What was D-Law doing

That's exactly what Kearse did on his sack. Forced Fields back up the middle where he had help.

There were multiple players on the right side on that play. We had the right defensive call to prevent the run. That one's actually a good example because Kearse was able to stay to the outside and keep contain due to the other unblocked players inside of him.

Some here are expecting more of Lawrence than is reasonable. When you are the only defender on a two-way go, you have to commit to one of those.

It's not that. DLaw has to contain the outside. Let fields run inside if need be. Don't let him escape to the outside. DLaw took bad routes to the QB.
It’s easy to say that watching the game! But he likely saw a few kill shots and thought Fields had nowhere to go

Listen, Dlaw has been really good this season overall.

But what was he doing on QB contain today?

He is a veteran. He has to know better. He has to contain better.

He needs to fix that
I know his number in case you want to tell him that yourself.

He played with horrible lane discipline today. He was going for kill shot sacks the whole game and would be easily side stepped because he was taking such ill-advised, steep rush angles. If he slowed down and flattened his rush out, quite a few of those long QB jailbreak runs would have been forced inside and stopped for no gain.

Overall though he played a pretty good game. This can be corrected.

I can tell you that from experience probably hasn't faced a quarterback with that kind of quickness

He always does this crap-this is not new

His angles were horrific. All he has
To do is stay outside and at least make
Fields run up the middle and not untouched around the side for 15 yards.
One of those big plays was because he went for the RB, on a good fake handoff. Had it been an actual handoff, he would've made a great play...but he does have a tendency to over pursue.

I don't think there's much of a chance for a dlinemen to contain when there's wide open field next to him.

Defensive lineman don’t contain Justin Fields. It’s like the Vicks back in the day
I understand your premise however D law was way out of position on those plays - he was outside containment and should’ve pushed him (Fields) from fields right shoulder Lawrence’s left towards center / funnel to containment

Chicago was one dimensional offense today and the Cowboys still could not stop them knowing they were gonna run. Either wrong defensive scheme or just bad plays by the DE responsible for outside containment. DLaw got suckered in several times and no spy on Fields really hurt. That was the lethal part of their offense today. Sure the Boys won by 20 and all is great in Cowboyland....but concerning once they go up against a much better two dimensional offense with a mobile QB. If you're ok with this now, don't come here and complain then.

At least they won, but you should still be concerned a bit. The defense needs to do better.

DLaw was awsome today, DQ actually kinda had a bad game, not worried DQ will figure it out.
