Making the playoffs would piss me off, but drafting a QB in the 1st Round, let alone Top-5, would piss me off even more. Defense, defense, defense (or maybe OT).
I know, I know. Dak isn't good enough blah blah blah, not enough salary cap yada, yada, yada.
You CANNOT miss on the QB if you are letting a Top-10 QB walk. With previous and known interest in QBs like Manziel and Lynch, I don't trust that the Cowboys will get it right, even if they had a shot at a "generational talent" QB (which I believe is HIGHLY debatable).
Let's look at the ONLY good QBs the Cowboys have had since Aikman. Romo would have been likely cut if Carter was able to say off drugs. And despite drafting the best QB from the 2016 draft (and it's not even close folks) they only got him after the guy they wanted was "stolen" in front of them.
Think about that for a second. We may have easily lost out on Romo if Carter wasn't an idiot. And Dak was not even the guy the Cowboys wanted in the 2016 draft. But the two QB the Cowboys showed interest in did not last more than 2 seasons with the teams that drafted them despite BOTH being 1st Round picks. Just think how RARE that is that a 1st Round QB doesn't even make it half way through their rookie contract.
But I'm supposed to believe we will nail the QB pick based off of the guys they have WANTED to bring in the past while the two best QBs in the past 20 years were purely based on luck / emergency backup plans?
So let's gamble and pray we stay away from re-entering the late 90's / early 2000's of Cowboys football while allowing the best player on the team (again, not even close) to walk.
