What would a George Pickens contract be like in 2026?

All you need is one team to overpay. That is what Pickens agent is looking for. The kid will excel here because he knows what is at stake.
That would be great if he has a contract year he excels cowboy puts a tag on him one way or the other if a team really wants him they're gonna have to pay us a second or a first round pick to get him... That's the thing the Dallas Cowboys see him have a great year they're not letting them walk for a comp pic they're going to franchise tag the dude....

Doesn't matter in the end it'll make the Cowboys have a higher comp pick we don't even need a comp pick you franchise to tag the guy you mark him as a 2nd round tender however you want to do it the Cowboys will end up better off either way we're not getting fleeced in this deal we get a rental for one year and he'll either accept the money we offer him or get tagged and he'll have to fight to get off this team and that's fine that's what the Cowboys are doing they made this trade at the very least they're going to come out even but possibly with more draft capital than they gave for him..

If he's smart and he has a great year he should make sure he should have the mindset like T Higgins he knows he knows who's on the other side he knows why he could put up big numbers the man only has 13 touchdowns in three years that's not impressive that's not giving you $40 million.

His route running a suspect that's why he catches so many balls contested because he doesn't get open as easy as CD Lam or even a guy like Amari Cooper but the great ones are great route runners and great pass catchers and they can play all four wide receiver positions it doesn't matter this guy's not him.

He would be smart to stay here and take $28 million if the Cowboys would give it to him and be the number two here we get one year to figure out if he's worth it to even be a number two here...
If Pickens plays well my guess is the Cowboys will resign him. It is harder for the Cowboys to develop a receiver than a cornerback. I don’t think they want to pay Bland 25 million plus. They will use a pick on another cornerback or hope Elam can play.

But if they slap the tag on him we’ll need 20+ million in cash on the salary cap. Would that be feasible with resigning Micah and T. Smith?

I also agree he won’t be able to prove to the league he’s worth top 5 money and prove he’s mentally stable enough to handle it. Can he undo his reputation and produce at a top 5 level while sharing balls with Lamb? That’ll be tough for him.

I’m still pretty conflicted about this trade. I watch his highlights and get excited and then think we may have him only a year and we are not one WR away from a deep playoff run and I start to think it might not have been a great idea. This season will answer these questions that we can’t answer now. Lol, get yer popcorn ready! If anything it will be fun to watch.
We can make a run this year. We have a lot of guys who you'd think could turn the corner.

Lock George Pickens up long-term before he hits the market.
He’s only 24 and there’s every bit of talented as CD - except Pickens is faster.
No way do I give him a chance to leave.

I think the run defense is the only thing holding us back from a run this year. If Mazi and 7th round Jay show out then I feel we’re in the running. Offensively I think we can hang with anyone.

This WILL NOT be an issue for Parsons or Smith contracts .........couple reasons
*** remember most player new contract have lower cap first year or 2
*** the league salary cap will increase a bit for 2026

So tagging him for lets say $22M shouldn't be a problem at all. I'm a 100% confident this option was baked into their decision to make the trade.

Think about it......you are the owner/CEO about to make such a decision carry X amount risk. You will use a teams of expert resources to cover EVERY possible option, outcome and impact. I'm pretty sure they have a plan A, B and C. We may not agree with them but .......
I believe you because a lot of you guys are better at understanding the cap than me. So if you’re saying we could do that and make it work then I’m happier with the trade knowing it’s not a 1 year rental.

If they can get Bland for a decent price they probably move on from Trevon next year either by trade or release.

Eberflus wants CBs that tackle. Bland is solid in that and Diggs can do it but he makes too many business decisions.

Listening to the Steelers GM. They basically chose to pay and trade for DK Metcalf over extending Pickens. I believe they think Pickens is too immature to be a locker room leader. On the Cowboys he does not have to be the leader.

With a quality season this year I'd think the Higgins contract is the floor for what Pickens would make. I wouldn't sell him short has he probably has the highest ceiling of any player you mentioned there.
I agree with the ceiling but I question how much he will command with his reputation. And even if he doesn’t act out, teams know it is his contract year. I know it only takes 1 team but I do wonder what his market will be and what teams will be willing to commit.

What would you consider a quality year that would justify the Higgins contract as his floor?
