This fa class doesn't look very good unfortunately.

that would be unfortunately.
though Melvin Ingram as DE/rush LB is decent.
i would be happy if we can get Short DT or even Fairley to replace TCrawford if the cap hit June 1 is not bad.

Thought somebody on here said we could cut Crawford for no hit. But we still need 2 starting des and a starting 1t. Also we will have issues at ss and need 2 cbs. This offseason could be a mess. Might have to replace twill also. But Dallas also need's to draft mostly defense. Gregory probably won't play again and this is dlaws last year.

2 DE would be godsend if they are worth signing
the cap would allow us to sign 3 top FA and still have stable cap with restructuring for at least 5 years.
Dlaw looked done
we actually did cap calculations, we could accommodate TWill or a better WR, RT, and 3 top FAs and resign a SS
the FO just has to shift gears.

Hey redball! that's got me thinking about doing a little research into the most common and needless penalties we seem to continually draw, what position, cause/ effect and WHO's the bonehead getting them, would you know of a starting point on the web?or maybe I'll find some buried stats in the basement of CZ,,,,
Not really on the stats but NFL.com might have some info to start.

It would be interesting to see the breakdowns on the penalties.

Also how we do on Challenge Calls.

I'm not interested in being prohibitive favorites (I mean, it'd be great, but who's counting on that?). To be consistent contenders, we need to get/keep this defense into the top-10 in points, be capable of making good QBs uncomfortable, and we need to maintain what we've done offensively. More takeaways don't hurt.

Really, though, we're pretty much where we need to be. I'm all for bringing Belichick on board when he hits the open market and decides to work for Jerry. Until then, you guys think I'm a homer?

A better defense and Tom Brady's retirement.

I think Cowboys go into next season as one of the favorites. Clearly getting a player who can bring the heat and put up the sacks can increase those odds of winning it all.

Sticking to what works. For whatever reason, if something is working, Dallas gets away from it. All season long, receive the kick off, pound the rock, control the clock. The playoffs come and what happens, someone gets cute. Rodgers is all over us like ugly on an ape. We lose and the only person thrilled is captain clapper.

Dallas starts going after the QB, we are knocking him around, what happens, we stop. This is the stupid stuff that freaks me out. IF you have a winning formula, stick to it until someone beats you. Dont have it working and say "damn this is working, we better stop using it to be fair to the other team.

Going after weaknesses. Again, Garrett has this theory, if the opposing team has an injury, dont exploit it. What, no you moron, you go after it like sharks to blood.

Tip to Pollack. The only message you send to squad "impose your will" That Oline has got to be a mean streak so opposing defenses know "we are coming to bully you" Attack attack attack, make them double up, slow them down, bully them up and down the field and when you are done, and our player is tired and has nothing left, you make him do it again, all freaking day. Remind them to impose impose impose until the other team is mentally broken.

Tip to Rod, if a player is getting at the qb, you run that play run that play and run that player into the ground if you have to until that qb is crying. This is pre football defense, get that qb and get inside his head. Only dallas will look at a player beating on a qb and say "oh stop it, you are being rude to that QB" no, stay at it all day even if they double up, thats one less person.

Stick to what is working for you.

you can beat brady if you can get to him.
denver showed that the year before.
our problem is our DL cannot get to him or rodgers or beat any good OL.

Jerry step down (soon-hes starting to get up there in age), get rid of Garrett who cant win 1 playoff game with 5 Pro Bowlers. I really think GB was shocked they won without their leading wr and a banged up secondary. Garretts smart but he just isnt a winner. He doesnt know how to exploit the other teams weaknesses. He does however know personnel and probably would fit in as GM.
Until coaches are changed just dont see us as a prohibitive favorite.

I think if the Cowboys had a couple of good pass rushers the secondary would actually be good enough

Assuming Dak and Zeke continue to be what they have been, and no major injuries,

1) What moves would be needed to make us prohibitive favorites for superbowl/dynasty? See options
2) Can we afford it? We can afford all these options and cap would not blow up for probably at least 5 years

Options:
1) If Jaylon comes back 90+%, add 2 top FA DL, 1 FA starting RT, 1 FA WR2
2) If Jaylon comes back 90+%, add 1 top FA DL and 1 top FA CB, 1 starting RT, 1 WR2
3) If Jaylon comes back 90+%, add 1 top blitzing FA LB, 1 top FA CB, 1 FA starting RT, 1 WR2
4) If Jaylon comes back 90+%, add 2 FA CB, 1 top S, 1 FA starting RT, 1 WR2 - available CBs may not be god enough...
5) Add 2 top FA DL, 1 top FA CB or S, 1 FA RT, 1 WR2
6) Add 1 top FA DL, 1 top FA blitzing LB, 1 top FA CB or S, 1 FA RT, 1 WR2
We already have the talent. All that is needed now is better refereeing in the playoffs.
