I don't really know the guys in your draft sheet so I'll assume they're pretty good. I know Gogan was pretty tall back in our Super Bowl years, but could someone spread the light on tall guards and how they do?

I like your draft strategy. It takes into account that we have first-string talent in place already and focuses more finding mid to late round players. Churning the later rounds for a quarterback is A+ in my book. My only (slight) objection would be Cody. Unless someone's snatched up pre-draft, defensive tackle is going to be a high consideration going into the draft. My preliminary pick is Ron Brace/Boston College. He's not as athlete as his teammate, BJ Raji, but he should be available in the late 2nd round forward and he stout against the run. Just my two cents.

i would just leave things how they are and work these players like hell this summer. fill spots left open by players leaving dallas. and sign/draft a backup qb.

this isnt a bad team, its one of the best in the nfl. its just they play stupidly. they need discipline when they're on the field. who cares what they do in their lives outside of the football field. thats nobodies buisness but theirs.

but when they enter the stadium on sundays and valley ranch drill discipline in their heads constantly.

so quit *****ing about the cowboys.

1. Fire Wade Phillips. Bring in Gruden and have him work 16 hour days to catch up on things and reorganize the team.

2. Have team meetings in which it will be made clear that what happens in the huddle and in the lockerroom stays in the huddle and lockerroom.

3. Tell selected players (Crayfish, Ellis, RW "Mr. Detroit Practices Harder", and Newman to just shut up and play. Any infractions will be met by extra laps and fines. I did not mention T.O. because i believe in Parcells/Jimma's philosophy that some playeres you just treat differently. However, T.O. should know that he will be quickly dealt with (or dealt away) if he crosses the line.

4. Bring in and sign the necessary players to make the O-line work. And protect Romo. Flo, your time is quickly ending.

5. Move heaven and hell to make the three-headed monster of MBIII/Felix/Tashard work, and in a consistent way.

6. Feature T.O. and Witten in the passing game. There is only one ball and only two bona-fide receiving stars. Period. Sorry, Crayfish, this is not a democracy. Oh, and, Mr. Crayfish, you will learn to block and do it frequently -- if and when you are used.

7. Make a backup QB an offseason priority. FA is preferred because if Romo goes down, there is no time for a learning curve. the only curves we have time for are on Joely Richardson.

8. Don't bring in expensive have-beens like Ray "the Killer" Lewis or Zach "The Leader" Thomas.

9. Upgrade the linebacking corps.

10. Draft a safety who can start or go to FA. Safety is a real need.

I know, it's genius. But that is the world I inhabit.

Left tackle is the second most important position on the team. Who do you replace Adams with?

1) Fire Phillips and hire Shanahan

2) Find a new strong safety and put Hamlin at free where he belongs

3) Cut T.O. and start Williams, Crayton and Austin in the slot or Williams and Austin with Crayton in the slot

4) Resign Thomas

5) Resign Canty

6) Become a smash mouth offense that will control the clock and keep the small defense off the field and rested to use their quickness better. Or go to a 4-3.

7) Sign a decent 2nd string qb

I would have fired Wade and promoted Garrett or hired Shanahan.

Since Wade is staying I would try and get the DC situation settled. Stop telling me Wade is the DC. I want him to have input and control of the D, but there needs to be a chain of command too. If we want the franchise to be run right, then run it right.

Send word to the players and coaches that you are either 100% behind this team or you are going to lose money. No player or coach would be allowed a reality show, a radio show, or a TV spot. No regular interviews where things get comfortable and tongues get loose. Media interviews are limited time and at no time can you throw a teammate or coach under the bus without a fine. When I say problems will be handled "In House" that is exactly what I would mean and there would be no excuses.

Coaches would be fined for bad game plans and execution. Crap rolls downhill. Fines start at the top.

Once Camps start there would be no starters until they earn it. You earn your spot. Nothing is handed to you. If the other guy outworks you and you have more talent, prove it and take your job back. There is value coming off the bench too.

Ware would get a new contract. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

I would let Chris Canty go and sign Igor Olshansky cheaper. He seems too pre-occupied with money and not occupied enough with effort. The one splash in Free Agency that I would try is Julius Peppers. Yes, even over Ray Lewis. I would not break the bank to sign Julius though. Him and Ware on the same side would be frightening.

I would keep Ratliff at NT. The man was the best there was at the position last year. Moving him when he does not want to be moved is dumb. Creating a vacuum at NT is even dumber.

Anthony Spencer would start at SOLB and if Greg Ellis didn't like it he could contribute to the fine bank every time he opens his festering gob or sell peanuts in the stands. I would likely try and trade Greg anyway. Too much locker room politics with Greg.

I would try to get Zach Thomas to come back, but I would use Carpenter and Burnett more even if he did.

I would renegotiate Roy Williams' contract to free up cap space. The idea of moving Hamlin to SS would get killed. Roy would be told he had two jobs. Hit hard and blitz.

I would do the trade with Miami of Anthony Henry for John Beck. It's worth the risk. I would also draft at least 1 QB and start to develop young arms for trade or to take over. I would never again be without options at QB.

Stanback or Crayton would work on being the holder on FGs and PATs. If one of them could not do it, find someone who can. I would not ever again keep a backup QB just because he can hold the ball on those. If you are going to do that might as well go get Joe Theisman because he was absolutely the best ever at it. I hate the guy, but he was awesome at that job.

We have three good CBs. Start the best two even if that means the highest paid CB is on Nickel. Draft more depth here. Find me another Scandrick. I love the kid.

TO, Crayton, and Roy would have to shut up. Period. No exceptions. They don't like it, they can block for the running game for a living. They refuse to block, they get fined a game check. There is no I in team and they would either learn that or be paying fines.

Bennett would become a bigger part of the Offense. So would Felix, and Choice would not be left in the cold. Run or pass, the theme would be ball control and eat the clock. Less deep balls, more timing passes, slants, and especially screens. We would use Bennett and Roy on Fades where they have huge height and leaping advantages.

Which leads me to Tony Romo. Step up or step aside. I do not think in any way, shape, or form that he is the problem, but he isn't being the solution I think we need him to be either. No one, and I mean no one should talk over this guy or get in his face except the coaches and if they do, he better step and fetch.

Plugging the gaping hole at LG would be priority 1. I don't care if it is Holland, Kosier or a draft pick. That spot killed our season.

False starts by the Offense would be a lot of running after practice. The big fatties would either figure it out or get good at marathons. Their choice.

Speaking of practice, we would hit. No more practices in shorts. Get your work in and get fit. This would be a cardio fit team. No more excuses for December and January fades.

In the Draft we have 11 picks. I would focus on OL, SS, CB, ILB, DE, and NT. I would get a QB to develop, maybe two. They can be UDFA's or late picks.

Starters would play on Special Teams if they are better than the backups.

They would be silent but violent on all 3 sides of the ball.

Cut: Roy Williams #38, Greg Ellis
Re-Sign: Ware, Ball, Killa, Bowen and Austin
Probation: T.O (needs to clear air with Garrett)
Fire: Ray Sherman...nice guys are not what that receiving core needs, hire Troy Brown
Hire: Ray Horton def coordinator
FA: Kyle Boller, Angelo Crowell (should come fairly cheap) and Igor O
Draft: Heavy on lineman, secondary

I would prefer to let Canty go and pick up Olshansky in order to collect inevitable comp pick while getting someone with similar type production. Not sure if they could make it work financially, but it would be the right move.

I've got... like... little shivers running up-and-down my spine! I just want to get out there and hit somebody after reading this great post! YEAH!!!!!!

I slightly disagree about nose tackle. I believe that we can plug somebody else in there and allow Ratliff to solidify the defensive end position. Still, he ain't hurting nothing by staying there either. :D

:hammer: Again, great post.
