What would you give up to get Clowney?

Team has way too many needs to bet the farm on Clowney, and that's what you'd have to do. It would be a total Jerry move to do something dumb like that.

Nothing. This team needs more than one player. Dallas needs to draft well this May and hope they can hit on at least three day-one starters.

I agree we need more than one starter. I wish I had more faith in them finding more than one starter.

I know we have needs all over the D, but would you give up 1st and 2nd and a 2 next year if it would get Clowney? I am guessing it would take 2 1's but that would be too rich for me. Would help us not be as reliant on Ware regaining his form. Just curious.

no. Although I like a player like Clowney, but we have too many other holes to fill plus locking up more cap space on one top player. we are far away from being a good defense. this way you handicap yourself for few years before we can start to draft players to make him effective. we have ware and he is rendered ineffective because the rest of the defense sucks.

With the changes in the War Room, I think they are working on a plan to get several immediate starters; I hope they follow it. :)

I would give up the 16th or 17th pick in the draft to get Clowney.

According to a draft chart you can google, the 1st pick is worth "3,000 points." The 16th pick is worth 1,000 points. The rest of our picks are worth a total of about 735 points. Next year's first is worth about 600 points. So if you offered the Texans all of our picks this year, and next year's first, they still would have to take less points than the 3,000 they have at the number 1 pick.

No thanks. But to the guy who said he wouldn't give up the 16th pick and next year's first, that's an offer you should take. Just look at all the failed first rounders of years past. Clowney is much more of a prospect than anything you're gonna draft with those two number ones.

I disagree. Everyone thought guys like Glen Dorsey or Tyson Jackson were going to be monsters, but they weren't. I would rather take my chances with multiple picks than trying to trade up to get one guy. Mo Claiborne?

I don't like Clowney.

Sure he is a talent but I think he's just got too much hype too soon and will just underwhelm as a pro.

I have nothing to go off of but a hunch because everything about him physically would make you think he's the next great DL. I just think he lacks heart.

I have not studied Clowney thoroughly to have a strong opinion, but since the Texans would never take that deal the point is moot on whether we should do that deal. On the other hand, from what I have seen of him I think the Texans should think hard about taking him at number 1. They need a franchise qb but maybe they can get someone they like at qb with their second pick. JJ Watt and Clowney - that could be a real force.

This guy basically took this year off. I don't want a guy like that on my team.

Yes there are trade chart values, but the rookie cap sorta distorts the old charts. Looking at what the Commanders did to trade up from the 6th overall to the 2nd overall, it was- their current 1st and 2nd, their next year's first and their 2 year out first. So we are talking about going from 16th not 6th to the same 2nd overall, gonna be a lot more steep than three 1sts and a 2nd.

Clowney had 3 sacks this year. I dont want a selfish player who is going to mail it in whenever he chooses. He is all flash. I like players that are self motivators. He isnt one. I might sound crazy but u wouldn't even draft him at 16 if he was for some reason sitting there. He is going to be a colossal bust imo.

That is why I am not interested in him, he can be the next Vernon Gholston or the next Charles Haley, who knows way too big of a risk up in the stratosphere of the draft.

Pretty sure this is a current chart:

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/draftchart.php

Using those point numbers, the Commanders spent about 500 more points in that trade, but given that it involved a pick 2 years out, it probably brings that closer to even.

A six pack of miller lite . He has bust written all over for me. Just 3 sacks and a whole lot of hype. PPL listen to the guys on TV most of them have never played a down of football or dont really know much at all.

I have to say I have never seen any player get more attention for one play where he was unblocked. Maybe Nick Fairly?
