Whatever Coach Leads Dallas To Its 6th Championship

You know damn well what I'm referencing. I'm talking about all the endless attack threads such as this, I'm talking about the term "realist" being used as some sort of passive insult towards those who don't tow the line with everything the organization does. I don't expect that "realists" be treated like kings, only that they be treated with the same respect as anybody else. So many times "realists" have been the ire of hatred, ESPECIALLY when the "negative" things they say actually do come to fruition..as if them saying what they said is part of the problem with the team's success. It's preposterous, old, dry, and predicatable.
Wait. What?

I was under the impression that "those who do not tow the line with everything the organization does" label themselves as realists. Are you suggesting that self-labeled realists are "passively insulted" by those who are not considered realists by self-labeled realists? Why would one feel insulted after acknowledging to themselves that they are who they claim to be?

This was an attack thread, not just a CrazyCowboyish positive thread. Or perhaps you think putdowns like "internet experts," "malevolent fanbase" and "internet harlequins Cowboy fans" are compliments or something. You do what you always do: wait for someone else to do the heavy lifting and then pile on when you have safety in numbers. In other words, weak and cowardly, but what else is new?
Oh, stop acting like a baby. He didn't mention you ny name, yet you came running with the barbs almost immediately.

And you have the nerve to call it an "attack thread". Man the **** up.

The only good thing you said was "the ire of hatred." Sounds almost like Lone Wattie saying "endeavor to persevere."

You know what I've noticed? Posters who have nothing positive to say get "attacked." If I say something negative I don't get attacked. Neither do other posters who are not constantly negative. It is the constant negativity that gets attacked. There is no such thing as every damned thing this organization does is wrong.

It does not take an Ivy League education to figure that out. Common sense is more than enough, or at least it should be. You yourself said you would not expect any of the things I said if you went to any other fan forum for any team in any sport and were constantly negative.

Yet you expect that here. Welcome to your insanity. Don't blame posters here for noticing.

Ah man, this is some good stuff. :laugh2: I personally want to thank windjc for this thread.

This is very true. Now, figure out why they don't. I promise you it is not hard.

lol.

This thread was nothing but good comedy.

People wanting a pat on the back for accurately proclaiming a team wouldn't win the Superbowl. That's awesome. No, it really is. It's amazing that someone has accurately made that prediction.

I guess I've done pretty darn well the last few years by accurately predicting that 30 teams won't win the Superbowl each year. Amazing insight there. lol

Come on fellas...good night. We're really reducing ourselves to this? People want to be acknowledged and pat on the back for a prediction like that? Come on. Seriously?

And all this crying back and forth, from both sides, about how the other side always attacks them or never respects them or that they want their side treated the same as anyones. Are you kidding?

Neither side ever gets a free pass here. If you're a realist, as some like to call themselves, you get attacked by the optomistic bunch.

If you're a optomistic member, and don't like to dwell on the negatives and crap, then you're crapped on for not keeping enough of the reality in your posts or thoughts.

So both sides need to stop acting like its only the other side who attacks or does all the mean stuff. It's both and it's beyond tiring at this point, don't you all think? Aren't you tired of having to fight these same arguments over and over?

Just drop all the stupid labeling and junk and just be Cowboy fans. If you don't agree with something then why not say "Hey I don't agree with that and heres why" and leave the "You must be a homer or you're clueless, or you're not a realist," or whatever other dumb lable that people tag someone with on here when they see something they don't like.

Maybe then none of us would have to see anymore of these silly threads posted. lol

And of course I'm talking about myself here too. I know I'm bad, at times, about doing the exact same things here and I know I'm tired of it all so I can imagine it's got to be even more tiring for the people who go through this on an endless loop every day.

I don't understand why people care whether certain posters predict doom and gloom or posters are overly optimistic.

We're a community. And a community includes people of all different stripes.

I just find it interesting (and a bit of a joke) that posters want to ban others who voice negative opinions about the Cowboys or a particular player or who think Jerry Jones needs to get out of the GM business or those who think Romo is an average quarterback.

Why would those opinions bother you on an opinion board? Again, I find it interesting that people are offended by differing opinions on an opinion board?

I think it has a little to do with repetition. Just as self-proclaimed realists do not wish to constantly read ever evolving "sunshine pumping", accused optimists do not wish to constantly read static negativity.

In some ways, it's kinda funny. Realists are frustrated that optimists "cannot stop living in the past". Optimists are frustrated that realists "cannot keep themselves from dredging up the past".

oy.

I refrained from posting because there was nothing left to be said. The OP was trolling for a reaction, and then played innocent when he got one. Fail.

On a few occasions I've heard Aikman accurately describe what fans want -- really, what they need if they're to remain fans. They want a team that is successful or, failing that, they want (read "need") hope and optimism that the team will be successful in the future.

The "realists" catch significant backlash because, by their words, they aim to diminish hope and optimism for the future. That's a particularly troubling offense in the preseason, when hope springs eternal for fans of all teams.

You want to moan about the team and the moves made by management? Go ahead. But understand that I have no interest in what you have to say. Indeed, you should expect that I'll react negatively. If the decisions made by management turn out to be disastrous, I'll find out soon enough. Until then, I'd like to hold out hope. That's not insisting on my delusions; as Aikman points out, that's just part and parcel of what it means to be a fan.

I'm not sure why it should be important to anyone to strip me of my hope (or, if you prefer, my delusions) in any event.

But what's the real issue bb? how does a 40+ year old man, not only find time to be on the Net a lot, but comes to a cowboys message board, who he says he is a fan of, but only spits negativity?

There is a problem, let us in on it bro. We here at this board, are like family. No man should be this negative on the net, and act so defensive when hes the attacker.

Whats up? Wife cheating? Wife left and took the kids? Lonely, no wife? 40+ year old virgin?

We are here for you...if you don't wanna talk about it, just enjoy whatever part of your miserable life you have left, and enjoy the Cowboys.

Hmm. I wonder what this says about Hos. After all, he's older than me and has almost four times as many posts. And I thought I had to get a life.

There is a problem, let us in on it bro.

Jerry and fifteen years of futility. What's your solution?

We here at this board, are like family.

Really? Then I'm disowning you.

No man should be this negative on the net, and act so defensive when hes the attacker.

The OP was on the attack. His advice was to basically "shut up and get with the program." Maybe you missed that.

Whats up? Wife cheating? Wife left and took the kids? Lonely, no wife? 40+ year old virgin?

This is the best you can do? The answer is none of the above. Just reacting to the reality of the situation in Dallas these days. Sorry if you find that inconvenient.

We are here for you...if you don't wanna talk about it, just enjoy whatever part of your miserable life you have left, and enjoy the Cowboys.

Please don't project your insecurities onto me. Unlike the Cowboys, my life is just fine. Better than yours at any rate, but that ain't sayin' much.

That OP's comment reads moreso as prognostication than as an outline for proper internet forum etiquette.

I was composing a response to a post I saw the other night about trust, but it was getting late, and I couldn't finish it. I wish I had.

I can't remember the exact thread or post contents, but it had to do with someone bashing another poster for trusting Garrett. I just wanted to say, hey, seriously? You honestly have a problem with someone here trusting Garrett to run things?

Why? It's his trust. He can place it with whomever he wants. He trusts Garrett. He feels hope for the new season. You don't. Why is the difference worth arguing over? Why do you feel a need to attack that and label that poster a blind sheep or whatever it was?

Ridiculous...
