We need this guy more than ever now, he would be perfect here, I would give the pats whatever they want if we have something they want like carpenter or anyone.

will take too much in trade and cost too much in $$$

not to mention what we have invested in Henry and what we'll have to pay Newman this yr or next yr

I'm sure the Pats would trade him to us for Ware & Cleveland's first rounder. Heck, any team in the NFL would make that trade with us.

Yes, let's give up a good player for a guy who would require a HUGE FA contract. That is what smart teams do, right?

He will want a new contract before becoming a FA.

You can spend huge money on FAs -- that's fine but NEVER trade a pick or a player for a guy who you then have to turn around and give huge money to.

here is a golden rule to live by,

never trade draft picks in august. they are way too valuable.

You can overreact to something you see in august and then make a move you didnt need to make or overpay for someone who will not contribute that much anyway. think TJ duckett.

Samuel is a good player, but he is not worth a first or god forbid two firsts and a boatload of cash. It does not make sense in any way fashionable.

Someone, I am not sure who yet will cut a veteran corner making too much money or a prospect who needs time and that is what we are counting on.

Asante Samuel frankly would be worse than the joey galloway trade, particularly in the last week of august.

To me trading draft picks in August is a very bad organizational move, it goes against what organizations should be doing.

giving up a 4, 5, 6 or 7 at this time of year because you are desperate for something that really isnt out there anyway is a huge mistake.

Would you want to give up Barber, james, ratliff, mcquistan, canty or doug free for a spare part guy that may or may not help you in two weeks when the season starts?

I sure dont.

it's all a part of the instant gratification society. whatever they see *right now* is the only way it can be. gets so old.

I couldn't agree more...

while I have been saying well before last years draft that if a Franchise CB is available we should take him but with the mocks I got caught up in getting a WR (Meachem) and we could use one of those too...

But I really do want us this year to use a 1st (rnd pick) on a CB if he looks like the real deal and though people may shoot me I might use two in the first round or another in the 2nd depending upon rating... now having said that if our scouting dept. determines these CB this year will just be JAG's than they had better go a different route.

I think he's at least partly a product of a great D. Let's keep in mind that Troy Freaking Brown played well at CB on that D.

Samuel Roy and Newman on our defense would be nice, but i think is too much money and the Pats would want a good trade for a player like him and like many said his $$$ contract might be problem

Please don't follow the deadskins' roadmap of firesale of draft picks and giving up whatever the money it takes to sign/trade for a player.
