Loved it. Thought it was sensational (in the actual sense of that word), but an enjoyable read, anyway.

It also turned me on to Mia's brisket tacos, which was a serious win when I went out to the Mothership for the Sk*ns game last year.

My Brother (A HUGE Steelers Fan) gave me this book for Christmas. As soon as I saw it I thought "OK Here we go, Steelers fan gives me this book about all the crap that went on.") My favourite part of Cowboys history was the Staubach era. I was happy about the resurgence in the 90's of course but I knew they had a bunch of awefull jerks on the team and incredible head cases then. So I figured it would just be a bash fest.

But after I started reading I realized my Bro's not such a jerk after all. lol It's an awesome read. And once you get past what AWEFUL people Irvin and Emmitt are, there's plenty of room allowed for you to appreciate their incredible contributions to the team and then REALLY appreciate how GREAT Aikman was, Novacek and Woodson and so many good men that were on the team at the time.

Also I'm developing an even greater admiration for Jerry Jones. I mean this guy always and I mean ALWAYS seems to have done his best for the team. (Outside of the GM hellish indulgence and the Emmitt holdout) He's often been wrong headed in his decisions but his heart has always been in the right place and he's really tried to learn from every mistake. He's arrogant and not as bright as he thinks he is and Cowboys fans wish he was but he does Love the Cowboys. Basically superfan gets his toy kind of deal. I still wish he was more of a Bob Kraft / Rooney type of owner but despite this I think he's still one of the best owners in the league.

But to this day, i am glad they never took the guy. I absolutely hate the type of person he is in this league. With irvin and sanders around him he might have been 10 times worse than he actually turned out to be.

It caused a domino effect of bad decisions with this organization though, but that is a shame on you moment for the front office.

I agree. As I said there was a part me on draft day that wanted him I had seen him and was amazed at this talent he showed at Marshall but yeah I think it was the right move then and still do today to pass on him.

For those that think Moss should have been drafted by the Cowboys , how long would he have remained a Cowboy ? Dallas would have spent a first round pick on Moss and in return he would have played well for a couple of seasons before starting trouble and moving on to the next team. Moss has always had a bad attitude after spending a little time with one team.

It disappoints me some that those players acted like juvenile deliquent thugs but they've all grown and changed and that's history...unpleasant as it was.

I have talked to Emmitt a time or two after games and he was very nice and sweet. Never aloof. And he never struck me as a player just after personal goals. Although those were important and I don't blame him he was a great team player. I remember a game in Chicago where he landed right on his head and hurt his neck and played the next week...and of course the infamous NYG game where he took the team on his shoulder.

I've never heard Emmitt described as being a player after personal goals over team goals but it's interesting to read that opinion from another fan.

To me he was always the ultimate team guy. Particularly since he was small..not considered that fast for a RB..he just had the heart of a lion and he was a winner. He's one of my favorite all time Cowboys and I am very proud of his rushing record as a Cowboys fan. But to each his own. As I said that's an interesting take on Emmitt.

It was a good book and had quite a bit of insight into what went on behind the scenes. I've heard many of these stories from multiple sources which leads me to believe it's a fairly accurate portrayal.

Really insightful how Jimmy was the brains in the war room and how Jerry instructed him to "confer" with him while the cameras were on. It really verified how out of control Jones' ego was/is and how that led to him pushing Jimmy out and what has ultimately led to the abysmal last 15 years. Good 'ol Jerry, still trying to show that he can win his way no matter how many times he fails.

Just starting reading this book and I never heard some of the claims made and figured folks here would have some strong opinions, so what's the consensus? Is the book accurate or bull?

I saw Jimmy on tv on some show (can't remember the show's name now though..senior moment) and he said he actually had a calendar with a date circled on it on when he would leave the Cowboys...and he said something to the effect that he never stayed anywhere very long anyway. I don't like Jerry much at all but it's just a myth that Jimmy was run out of Dallas. He got everything he wanted; a cushy job for a few years..made a fortune...won big.

And then he moved on.
