Live and learn. Not every pick hits.
Wrong team!!! Another team he'd be the best on the fieldThe way the war room was celebrating and the comments on this board when he was drafted would have had most thinking he’s the next Ed Reed. So far he looks small, a tick late, timid. I get he’s a rookie but what’s his best position? I think he was at least noticeable when he was in slot. The last two games he’s been invincible. I think the giants knew something we didn’t (they passed on him twice) ?
I was simply responding to a post. If those weren't your thoughts, apologies.Again...for the millionth time...not MY premise. Read back.
Downs at 6-0/205 is typical S size. The size thingie is silly.No. Talent can only take you so far when physically you are so much smaller than 90% of your opposition and you have to tackle them.
In reality most players don't shine until their third year, at the time they leave the team that drafted them. Here lies the problem of thinking you'll reach the SB through the draft, it's fricken impossible. The way the war room was celebrating and the comments on this board when he was drafted would have had most thinking he’s the next Ed Reed. Roy Lee Williams was 6'0"/222 lbs. He didn't last.Downs at 6-0/205 is typical S size. The size thingie is silly.
Like i said...huge fan of caleb. But 40+ yards...is not something he did at ohio state. And Bucky is a 4.55 runner.
A live game isn't a fair comparison to a Combine track, but I'd say that Downs is also a 4.5 guy.
There's 2.Roy Lee Williams was 6'0"/222 lbs. He didn't last.
Darren Woodson was 6'2", 220 lbs. He lasted. His bigger size frame helped tremendously.
Frame size. Not just weight. A bigger frame is going to handle more tackles and last longer. There's 2.
Hyde: 6-0/197
Eddie Jackson: 6-0/206
Budda Baker: 5-10/195
Mathieu: 5-9/190
Quandre Diggs: 5-9/197
Plus a host of others.
The heaviest FS in the list I'm looking at is 212. They list 15 of them.
SS: There is one SS at 220 in the top 16 list I'm looking at, next one is 215, next is 211.
I have no idea what you're thinking of, most S's are in the 6-0/200 range. Nature of the position.
I'm going to go with Christian Parker. Look at all of our CBs having historically the worse years of their careers. See the pattern? Go look at all of our secondary's PFF grades compared to Downs. we've got most of our guys in the 30s - 40s rangeThe way the war room was celebrating and the comments on this board when he was drafted would have had most thinking he’s the next Ed Reed. Correct.Your comment reflects the reality of what’s happened with Downs the injuries to Thompson and Locke, but don’t expect many to acknowledge it.
Jalen Thomson - IR
Malik Hooker - out wk 2-3
PJ Locke - out wk 3-5
That doesn’t even touch
Cobie Durant - out wk 3-5
Joey Porter - “out” wk 1-3, 5
Devin Moore - IR
