What's Important?

Recently, I have been giving some thought to this question, in terms of Sports. I don't know that there is a right or wrong answer to this. I'm simply interested in what people thought of this question.

In sports, specifically College and Professional (not HS or lower), what is more important? Is the most important thing the Athletes? Is the most important thing the team/school? Is the most important thing the Brand or the League/Institution? Is the most important thing Sport itself? Is the most important thing the Fan Base?

They are all important to whatever degree, I think, but which is the most important?

I actually considered this but the money is really only important to the select few who are profiting from it. Since it's really the fan base I am addressing (I think), I didn't include it as an option because I didn't feel as if it would be important to the people who might participate in this discussion. I suppose that it could be an ancillary concern, in that money a fan has to spend is of concern.

We can add it as an option if the discussion goes that way.

Whenever I have pondered something similar in the past I quickly try and refocus my thoughts on something else. Reason being that in the big picture there is nothing related to sports that is important enough to warrant even a fraction of the time and emotional investment I invest in my teams.

Yet here I am, checking in pretty much 365.
