When a lane closure is up ahead and the majority of us do the right thing and merge ASAP, but you always got those clowns who drive all the way up until the last second (essentially the same as cutting in line for vehicles)....but mostly I cant stand the people who let them in......we dont allow this in lines at the grocery store, restaurant, etc. so why is this ok?

Reminds me of what a friend did in a grocery store one time.
He was standing in line, the 20 item or less line. He had about 5 items. It was 5 or 6 people in line, he was 3rd in line. Most had 5 to 10 items. When an older lady walked past them all with 3 items. And the check out person didn't say a thing. He said, hey the line is back there, please go to the end of the line.

The lady said, well where I come from, this is what we do. He said, well this is Texas, and where I come from we shoot people for less than that. She quietly wen to the end of the line.

It is called the zipper merge and those who don't know how to merge correctly merge 1 mile early and cause even more of a slowdown! It is the recommended way to handle lane closures.
