what's the best concert you have ever seen?

God bless your courage.....you actually listed "Frankie Valli"

:)

How's it goin Chief?

Doin' well, thank you, sir.

My musical taste is quite varied. I thought I could get away with it since I had Van Halen, Scorpions and Santana listed, too.

Van Halen was my favorite concert by far. The "Women and Children First" album had just come out ... me and my buddies had worn out the 8-tracks of Van Halen and Van Halen II

Queen 1980...Freddy Mercury put on quite a show!

Wish you were still around Freddy!

U2 at Carver Hawkeye Arena during the Joshua Tree tour that became Rattle and Hum.

Billy Joel at Kemper arena in 89.

Pearl Jam in a free show at KU in Lawrence Kansas in 91. Vedder climbed the scaffolding and jumped into the crowd from about 20 feet up.

REM on the Monster tour in an added 2nd show in Overland Park, Kansas. The first night sold out in about an hour, so they added a 2nd show. Our play list included a rare End of the World encore and we felt fine.:wink2:

As sad as it sounds, Hootie and the Blowfish put on a great show in Overland Park too.

A open air concert in Nuernberg, Germany

in (dang I don't remember what year) around 1983

the groups that played where

Crosby, Stills & Nash

Melanie

Robert Palmer

Foreigner

Eric Clapton

lots from the 60's 70's era

ah heck lets just say there was a bunch of them they each did about 40 - 45 minutes with about a 15 minute pause between gigs lasted 3 days Friday - Saturday - Sunday started at noon ended around midnight we slept where we were ( toliets, showers and eats along with medical personnel where available) the ticket cost me $115 which I had to pay 3 times once for me and once for each lovely lady I had on the arm..no glass bottles allowed...the money you had to give out for a warm cup of beer was outrageous...but the music was fantastic along with the atmosphere but after 3 days I had such a headache and wanted nothing more than to go home...I remember it more fondly with each passing year...but it really was a gruelling long time to be in such a large crowd with little more than just elbow room and the sun beating down on you for hours on end...

I am really surprised Metalica did not make someones list so far.

I am not a Heavy Metal fan, but I did go to one of their concerts, and they really tore the house down. Very impressive live.

I'm not sure who Melanie is but it sounds like a kick arse concert.

I hold the microphone like a grudge
B'll hold the record so the needle don't budge
I hold a conversation cause when I invent
I nominated, my DJ, "The Presdient"
When I see you I'll, kick a freestyle, goin steadily
So pucker up, and whistle "My Melody"
But whatever you do, don't miss one
There'll be another rough rhyme after this one
Before you know it, you're followin and fiendin
Waiting for the punchline, to get the meanin
Like before, the middle of my story I'm tellin
Nobody beats the R, so stop yellin
Save it, put it in your pocket for later
Cause I'm "Moving the Crowd," and B'll wreck the fader
No interruptions 'til the mic is broke
When I'm gone... then you can joke!
Cause everything is real on a serious tip
Keep playin, and I get furious quick
And I'll take you for a walk through hell
Feed your dome -- then watch your eyeballs swell
Guide you out of triple stage darkness
When it get dark again... then I'ma spark this
microphone, cause the heat is on, you see smoke
And I'm finished when the beat is gone, I'm no joke {*echoes*}

Queensryche opened their Operation Mindcrime tour here. They were here for a week before the first show, practicing. A couple of the guys hung out at the local rock bars during that week. Cool guys. It was an incredible show.

The Monsters of Rock tour where Van Halen and Metallica headlined. It was right before And Justice came out.

In a bar, Ugly Kid Joe put on one hell of a concert at a local bar here. Some other bar shows that were good were Corosion of Conformity, Badlands, Pantera, Rhinobucket, Dirty Looks...

I believe that New Haven/Van Halen concert is where they recorded the home video Live without a Net.

38 Special
Blackfoot

Although even though it was more of a show/skit thing...the best had to be the USO tour while I was in Korea as it had all of the Miss America girls in the show and they did dancing and numbers.

Since I was the medic on duty I was front row center.

recently - local band called "faktion" that is about to release a roadrunner record and is on tour now. great guys, know 'em all, and we did a dvd shoot w/them and roadrunner here in dallas at curtain club and they PACKED THE HOUSE on a thursday night.

myspace.com/faktion - check out a new #1 before it hits in take it all away. : )

Yes - that was the live without a net video show. They actually played 2 nights. I was there night 1.

Two takeaways from concert - the New Haven Coliseum was the venue.

Sammy Hagar can freakin play guitar. He more than held his own in back and forth solo's with EVH that night.

The live without net was real. Sammy out of nowhere was running around arena hanging from the rafters. That was pretty crazy.

.38 Special (Special Forces tour)...

Boston with Sammy Hagar (Don't Look Back tour)...

Eric Johnson in '84...

The Police with UB40 (Synchronicity tour)...

Aerosmith (Done with Mirrors tour)...

Scorpions (Blackout tour)...

George Strait (Beyond the Blue Neon tour)...

Others I can't think of right now...

Grateful Dead shows were always the best, especially the ones in the old open stadiums with general admission like RFK and JFK. Just walk right down on the filed and start jamin, you could weave in and out of the crowd and get right up to the stage, once got about 10 feet from Jerry but the crowd pushed so hard after 10 minutes it got hard to breathe.

Unfortunately dont remember all that much from any of the concerts ive been too, but the Dead shows always the most fun, best atmosphere and environment, like escaping to a paradise, someone always turned you on within 10 minutes of arriving and it was always good.
