What's the deal with Gary Gibbs?

why the love from some? not a flame just curious. I was under the impression that the big story of the saints this year was sean payton and drew brees. Their defense kinda cost them a chance at a ring imho..

Conjecture:

Some because he coached here.

Some because he coached at OU and did reasonably well (maybe not for the alumni).

Some because he's seen (by them) as an improvement over Wade, Norv, Jed, on-staff coaches that have interviewed, etc.

Some because they're named Philo.

It's all somewhat of a dice roll, with Jones as both dealer and stickman.

LOL. I simply see Gibbs as our top option, thus far. He's a quality coach. He was well respected by the organization while in Dallas.

Sure, the offense was better, but it had tons more talent, too. Gibbs did a lot with little talent. That's good coaching.

That said, Gibbs probably has as much chance at getting the job as any of us do.

While not the leading candidate, I'm telling you, he's the best pick for us. Forget the "OU" connection. That ended over a decade ago.
