What's the deal with Jabril Cox?

I would like to see him in some packages, specially against running QBs like Hurts, I think he's got the speed to make a difference there, certainly more than LVE.

Maybe they are going slow in his incorporation to the defensive plan or they are thinking to give him and Clark more workload towards the end of the season, as an 18 week season will be harsh on the vets.

.The bigger question should be:

What's the deal with Dan Quinn??? Why is he favoring much older and way slower LBs over a young, quick, fast and aggressive LB?
:huh:

Quinn appears to like size over speed/aggression at LB. I'm guessing he acknowledges the lack of D-Line protection and that the LB's are having to deal with O-Line frequently blocking at the second level.

I wonder if the scheming will change with Hankins size at 1-tech, allowing us to play a smaller, more athletic LB? Then again id guess that Clark would be the first shout at MLB.

Seriously what is going on with him? Does anyone have an update? He was looking promising until the knee injury. Now it's like he doesn't exist.
He might not be ready yet. Still finishing up getting healthy. I was wondering the same thing as you though.

If he doesn't get any playing time after the bye week, we may not see much of him until next year.

Cox has the LB killer. Lack of lateral agility. I never really understood why people were so high on him here on the boards.

I don’t see it as Cox doing something wrong but more that he’s caught behind some good players playing well. As much as we’d like to replace LVE, he’s still making the calls. However, I suspect this will be the last year for him here.
Our LB corps is a weakness.

This really isn’t remotely accurate. Look at the best backers he’s had in Atlanta and Seattle. He’s always had fast, aggressive linebackers and big body interior DL to keep them clean. The man put Keanu Neal at LB and drafted Deion Jones.

Could it be Cox hasn’t been very good in practice and the coaches don’t trust him? Why is it always some conspiracies or grand scheme to ignore or hold back a player. If Cox was showing out in practice, he would be playing.

Also, his lack of size and coverage leaving abilities make him redundant with Quinn’s use of Kearse.

Cox = Reggie Robinson.

It's simply the coaching staff feels Barr and LVE are better options with what they want to run. When you run 2 lbs and have an extra dB on the field there's just not a ton of snaps to go around. Combined that with the ACL, I'm not surprised he hasn't been in there.
