He did not not look good in camp prior to the injury.
He does not have to practice for 3 weeks prior to returning. That's a maximum time window not minimum.
All WRs make a few plays in camp. What? He blew last Diggs for an easy TD on the play he got hurt. Dak threw the ball short and he had to come to it and Diggs landed on his foot.
Is he better than Brown… no! Does he offer anything as a special teams player…no! Does he offer anything more than being an average WR who has no time time or familiarity with the QB…no! There’s just no reason to bring him up at this point other than just to do it, for doing it sakes! What's the deal with James Washington? He was placed on IR August 31st and the soonest he could play is Oct. 9 against the Rams. At which point he would have been nearly 10 weeks from fracturing his foot during a practice. Reports in early August suggested he would be out for 6-to-10 weeks.
We all read in September that he was out of his walking boot, was spotted doing rehab, reports of his recovery being on schedule. Then in early October word was he still needed more time and then on the 19th it was feeling good and could return soon. On November 9th Big Mike said Washington is "very, very close to being ready". He hasn't even been designated to return yet from injured reserve. The next game for our Cowboys isn't until December 4th.
So what is the latest word on him? Will we see him this year or will he be MIA all season? Why is his recovery taking so long? At this point will he make any impact if he does finally play?
If they release him now they still have to pay him. Should have reached an injury settlement with him before the season.Washington is insurance at this point. Once Calloway gets up to speed JW may get released then. They have to hold on to Tolbert and adding another WR to roster right now is too much for the likes of JW.
Just more proof how inept this front office is.

Well except, someone on here broke him down on this board when we first signed him. He doesn’t have the lateral quickness to play slot. The Steelers originally tried him there and it was an abject failure. That’s why he ended up being Shuesters backup in Pittsburgh! He would most likely play slot so that could free up CeeDee to run more deep routes.

Right, at this point it’s looking like he was brought in as a combination insurance on Brown not working out/stop gap for Tolberts development. I’m beginning to think he would have been a camp casualty if not for the broken foot. But yeah, he’s become a bit of a legend at receiver! He was basically picked up on the NFL veteran minimum, but in classic Cowboy fan fashion he's been made out to be Randy Moss in his prime.
He wasn't going to re-sign with them and the Steelers traded Claypool at the trade deadline. They apparently don't see things the same as you.I'm not a fan of this FA acquisition from the start. For a team like Pittsburg who needs wide receivers they didn't even want to resign him. Maybe he'll come around and be of some help. But right now, I would rather have Tolbert playing in his place rather than him. If we get OBJ I think he would be the one to be cut.
