being in scotland i've never received much for my cowboys top, i did have some guy from jersey having a go but it was just a good natured bit of banter.

wearing celtic colours however is a different story. 11 years ago this month when i was 16 celtic won the league for the first time in ten years. the league, like this year which is what reminded me of this, went down to the last day of the season. when we won me and my friend went into town to to head out towards the stadium to join in the celebrations, obviously wearing our colours. when we got off the train in town as we were walking through central station we had to walk by a group of about 8 or 9 rangers fans in their thirties who were shouting abuse at us calling us fenian *******s and spitting at us. have had abuse a couple of times but that is easily the worst example i personally have encountered. just wondering about other folks experiances?

Which Celtics are you talking about? I always thought you were referring the team here.

I've never gotten any abuse wearing team colors because I rarely wear them, but I caught a lot of crap in highschool. Everyone knew I was a fan and would let me have it the next day after a loss.

glasgow celtic, scottish soccer. if i had to choose a basketball team it would be between boston because of the name and colours or san antonio because my girlfriends folks lived there and thats who she supports. i never thought till after i posted but its probably not as common over there as you don't really have two teams playing the same sport in the same city over there, certainly not to the extent we have here anyway.

I was water boarded in Veterans stadium...

I've dealt with loser Giant fans, talking out the sides of their mouths and pretty much reflecting the whole lame attitude of their team: whiny saps.

Just talk, never anything physical or anyone spitting. That's pretty ridiculous really; go through life showing your ignorance over something that doesn't really effect you.

New Jersey, where I live, rude is pretty much a natural state of being for many. I was at a hockey game and watched a couple of grown men curse out a child with the opposing teams jersey on his back. The poor kid's father couldn't do much, being outnumbered.

i hate spitting, been spat on another once by a drunk rangers fan when i was coming home from playing football but as that was one on one and i was old enough to handle myself i just threw him off the bus and as the driver had seen it was clearly him antagonising me and me trying to ignore him he shut the doors and drove off. never felt the need to lower myself to doing anything like that. don't get me wrong at the game or watching on the tele i have been known to shout obscenities at the opposition or get in arguments with friends over it but i've never actually gone out and tried to provoke a reaction/fight because of who a person supports. also cursing at kids over sport i would agree with you is pathetic

When I lived in DC we got box seats at Fed-Ex. I was wearing a Cowboys cap. On the way in, two Commanders fans started cursing at us and challenged me to a fight. I was with my pregnant wife. I can't post what I said back to them, but I guess the message that they were acting like douchebags was received and they went on their way. I always thought that was pretty classless and sums up skins fans nicely.

I think it was after we lost to Cardinals in playoffs right after we had won 3 of 4 SB's.

A Commanders was laughing and going on and on with friends and I just said.... "We just won 3 of the last 4" "WHAT is so trucking funny?"

Right before the NFC Championship for the right to go to Super Bowl XXVIII. I was working in a sporting goods store with 3 guys. One was a Packers fan, one a Bills fan, the third, Marc, was a 49ers fan.

Marc and I had a very unique bet on the game. Winner got to hit the loser right in the mouth.

I was on the cash register and Marc was helping a woman who was also a 49ers fan. He brought her to the register and she was talking trash about Cowboys fans so I looked up. She said, "I bet you're a ****ing Cowboys fan." I replied that as a matter of fact I was. She proceeded to rail on me using rather crude language to say the least.

Marc was egging her on the whole time. She said she was going to come back after the 49ers kicked our *** and rub my face in it. Marc told her about our bet. She said she wanted to be there to see a Cowboys fan punched right in the mouth.

I told them they were both dreaming if they thought San Fran was going into Dallas and win that game. I reminded them who won the NFC Championship the year before. I reminded them who had won during the regular season. I told her that I bet after the loss I would never see her yellow stripe in that store again.

I never did. That incident is part of the reason why I hit Marc so hard when he lost the bet.

i shouldn't but i love that story! :lmao2:
my old manager a celtic fan had a bet on a few years ago with a rangers fan that whoever won the league the loser had to buy the other the teams new jersey from the official club shop. unfortunately we lost the league that year (in the last 90 seconds, a 38 game season came down to the last 90 seconds of the last game of the season. it was easily the most devastating thing i've experianced in sport and one of the worst full stop) so he had to go in to the rangers store and buy the new kit. the shop assistant was very helpful until he produced his celtic credit card to pay for it. :D

Daschoo, not to be "that guy", but it's color. There is no U in the word color. I understand you are from Scotland, but please try to keep up :laugh1:

I never really experienced much of that, but I did see the other side of it... back in 92, I took the pilgrimage to Dallas for the season opener on Monday night, against the Skins... my cousin Lee went with me, and he's a lifelong Skins fan (as might be expected when you learn he lived in the DC suburbs his whole life)...

Lee's half Italian, his last name is Natoli, and he's built like some Italian men are, which is to say he looks a lot like a short nose tackle... I mean, the guy's a freakin' tank (maybe 5-10, and back then he went 280-290 easy)... his calves were thicker than a lot of guy's thighs...

Well, we flew in on Saturday, figuring we'd take in some sights... on game day Monday, we decided to do some shopping at the mall in Irving, then go bowling... I was dressed in full Cowboys regalia, Lee was in his Skins garb...

We stopped at the Winn Dixie to pick up a cheap cooler and some sodas, the checkout lady gave Lee gentle grief about being a Skins fan... we went bowling, the lady on the lane next to us gave him grief... we stopped by Whataburger so that I could give Lee a taste of the real Texas, and the lady who served us our burgers gave him grief... every time, it was middle aged to somewhat older ladies who got on him... Lee didn't know what to do...

I loved it... LOL...

Then of course, going into the game we caught some hell from Boys fans, but again it was fun hell, nothing ugly... I even caught a little flak for hanging out with the "enemy"... during the game, Lee was a great sport (the Boys posted a rousing victory over the defending Super Bowl champs, starting out with a safety on Mark Rypien by Charles Haley on the game's first series), to the point that the REALLY large young man sitting by us declared him an honorary Boys fan... said Lee was too cool to be a Skins fan... I was happy about that, because the guy had to go 6-8, and was well in excess of 300 pounds... Lee was even giving out high fives to the Boys fans by game's end...

Then came the long walk back out to the car... again, let me repeat that the Boys had just won, and won big... but Lee caught crap from all kinds of drunks, and this was not friendly crap... he wound up putting his radio headphones on, and trudged along oblivious... instead, I was the one who damn near wound up getting into a fight; Lee might be a Skins fan, but other than that single character defect, he's as find a man as you'd ever want to meet, and he's my cousin... so I told a coupla jerks to back off, and thought that it was gonna get physical there for a minute...

Meanwhile, Lee's halfway to the car... he doesn't have the first clue what's goin' on... :D

I have a buddy who's an Eagles fan, and one year I went to a Redsk*ns/Eagles game here in D.C. with him.

I wore my Cowboys hat and a Cowboys shirt to the game, and I should have been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize after the game because I found a way to unite Eagles and Redsk*n fans. They all took a break from yelling and cursing at each other, to agree that no one sucked more than Cowboys fans in general, and me specifically. :D

At one point I had the entire section (Skins and Iggles alike) yelling "Cowboys Suck!" and throwing things at me.

Thankfully, that was about as physical as it got, but it was an intimidating experience.

much the same way as you pronounce tomato wrong and call your mum mom :D
— ORIGIN Latin color. The origin is color, haha.

Yeah the mum/mom thing always cracks me up, as well as the fact that you probably say tele, instead of TV. I love language intricacies.

No, but seriously.... where does the name Hostile come from?
High School football. I played kind of angry.

I tried to register on the old site with that username like I had on the DMN forums and it wouldn't let me. So I used TooHostile instead. When we moved to this site I couldn't wait to drop the "Too."

I am intense in just about everything I do. Ask anyone who knows me. Hence why this hobby has taken me to 68k posts. I'm enjoying myself. Therefore I go full tilt.

I don't understand coasting.
