If both Free and Parnell leave.
That the Cowboys don't move Martin to the outside and target a top flight guard in the 2nd or 3rd round.
All I see is gottaaaa have... right tackel threads for the draft.

I honestly think, this is going to happen, if not the 1st rd.

Would be really dumb to move Martin to tackle. Just draft another tackle and keep this train rolling.
Why dumb. They moved all world Larry Allen to Tackel and that worked out fine, while he still had a lot of mobility. Martin has played tackel. So the adjustment would not be as hard.
You can get a high level guard in the draft and or on without high price tag in free agency.
So your front is LT all pro / LG - good player / C - all pro / RG - new or good player / RT - all pro.
Just saying.... Could be easier to fit that one part in. As we know the contract situation of our other guard in regards to next year.

They are not letting BOTH guys walk. That said I would not be the least bit surprised to see them draft an olineman fairly early in the draft. Remember they probably take Trai Turner in the third round last year had they not moved up for DLaw.

I would :clap:the move if we drafted a first round tackle. Then go all defense of course.

I think drafting DE, with the 1st rd pick would put a lot of pressure on that player, and I am sure, what we are all expecting is like 10 sacks from that guy, which I am sure will not happen. Drafting an OL, I feel is a lot less pressure for that player, considering how strong it is. I do however feel, that the pick will be traded.

I would gladly take a tackle in the first provided he can give us some versatality like playing both sides or slide over to guard when needed.

1st off I think the likelihood of losing both Free and Parnell is low. Dallas will keep one. However if the scenario did play out I would expect Dallas to look at a mid-level FA to play the RT spot and draft a tackle at some point in the draft.

I would have no problem taking Cameron Erving if he's available. The guy is like the swiss army knife of the offensive line and I believe he could play anywhere and do well.

I'm in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp on this one. ZMart has shown tremendous potential and is already a consensus top 3 guard in the NFL. Why mess with that?

You don't.

And they won't.

If they have a need at tackle, they will address it. Although I don't see them letting both Free and Parnell go anyway. I think Free comes back.

But even if he does, they will need his eventual replacement and possibly one for Ron Leary a year or two from now.

What I'm saying is....
That if you have a better chance to get Guard in draft. At not a premium slot. or in Free agency.
And....
It's not a big reach to move a player, who has played the position and one year in the NFL, out to play right Tackel.

Tackle. T-A-C-K-L-E.

And why create yet another question mark if we don't have to? Martin is an all-pro guard as a rookie, it doesn't get any better than that.

Can he play tackle at the NFL level? Maybe, maybe not. But why create that question if you don't have to?

Can this rookie you draft step into a starting guard role as a rookie? Maybe, maybe not.

But now, instead of one question mark, you have two.

Not a good plan.

Let's not forget we almost had a trade for a G in the 3rd round last year. I still think LG is something we look at. And Free is coming back

I was holding my breath wishing for a successful draft on the LSU guard.

Why would they not bring back 1 or Free or Parnell?

The Cowboys #1 priority in 2015 will be keeping Romo healthy. They best way to do that is to re-sign one of the players that have proven that they are decent NFL RTs.

If they have to go without re-signing as many of the LBs as they wanted, then so be it. They can use young players at LB without putting Romo's healthy in danger.

I agree they should resign one of them. I understand wanting to improve every position on the team and I agree there are better RTs out there, but when a positional group is already elite (and only getting better) I think you should focus on other needs. I'd hope a 1st round pick would be spent on a position other than O-line.

I don't like the idea of moving Martin. If you move him and get a new G then it affect Martin and Fred. If you get a new RT then only Martin is affected much. However, it's still a good idea so you are more flexible in the draft and FA. And Gs are easier to find in the draft.
