No HC to provide a crutch, to sit in the film room with him, help him with a gameplan acting as devil's advocate and providing insight from years of experience. No HC to sit in on position meetings, blowing the whistle at practice and ripping their azz!!!!
A real HC like Tom, Jimmy, Parcells etc is what we needed, someone that would have gone ballistic after that stupid taunting penalty......JERRY is oblivious to common sense.

I am worried about CP as well. Jerry has spent a lot of money and draft capital on this defense only to find out that CP is in over his head.

Agreed. I really like Schottenheimer but we used Eberflus as the scapegoat too much for 2025. Your HC primary job is to coach the coaches. He didn’t do a very good job of supporting Eberflus. Now he has a rookie DC who is going to have growing pains of his own and needs support. I’m actually shocked they didn’t bring in an old DC retread who has at least called plays at this level to work with CP. without doing so Shotty kinda volunteered for that role.

Even though shotty is an offensive guy he’s accountable for results of all three units, not just one.

And that’s good to some extent, but Schottenheimer wasn’t able to help the communication issues either….we also saw them pop up at times last night.

The point is your HC should be able to step in and help fix something that isnt working.

and we have the wrong players for the scheme being run on D. This will be a year of painful transition.

I know it was pre season and back ups ruled the day but when Zack Wilson & the Saints marched up and down the art gallery I had an uneasy feeling about the D, any depth .

Ranching is right, and anyone who watched the game last night can't deny the difference a real HC can make INSTANTLY. Not in 3 years or a decade, not when we finally get the right coordinators or just give them time to "gel", or go on enough team building field trips to the zoo. Instant change.

Shotty is fine, but he learned last night that his new DC is green as can be and got way outcoached by veteran play callers.

If the defense gets the Giants off the field more regularly, that game settles in and our offense gets it done.

But the offense basically watched 80% of that game like us.

It is time for Shotty to put some distance between himself and the players and start being more of an ***.

Somebody should get cut today just because. Get their attention. Show them he's not playing.

Do you recall what I posted last week leading up to this game about what to expect versus the Giants? My key to winning was weathering the storm early, spread out the defense with our passing attack and go up tempo to loosen up the interior of their dline. We didn't do that last part til it was too late. We needed to start the game that way. We tried to run too much early and fell right into the trap. I told everyone this was a buzzsaw we were walking into. The team was not well prepared nor disciplined. The defense is officially not fixed and my conclusion doesn't change. This is a year of transition, slow start but we get better as we go and sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard. I thought the plan of attack by Shotty was failed from the jump. Can we PLEASE stop running the dang jet sweeps?

That's not the problem. The defense is brand new with rookies and a rookie DC. In the end... The Giants recovered 3 of their own fumbles and stole an INT or this is a very different outcome on the road in NY against an improved Giants team led by Harbaugh.

Something to consider, since CP is new the Giants game plan had to be more about individual players rather than tendencies. The Giants did a great job of sizing up the Cowboys personnel and attacking the weaknesses. This is just smart football.
