I don't have his snap count at Oregon. Your post seemed to imply that he could play 100 snaps a game for us. I guess we all misunderstood what you were trying to say.

Out of curiosity Adam...what's your opinion on the 4th pick?

Buckner makes the most sense if you want to do a hybrid one-/two-gapping defensive front like Seattle a couple of years ago, but even they moved away from it, so I'm not sure what Dallas sees in Buckner scheme-wise. It seems like you need a weakside edge rusher opposite him and someone who can rush from the Sam position off his side and just let him disrupt the hell out of everything else. Teach him to use his length to bat down balls, blow up the run, etc. He'll make a killer 3-4 DE, whether it's a one-gap or two-gap scheme.

Alot of analysts believe he could play DE in a 4-3. Some even think he could play 3tech I not one of them however. He could rush from the 3tech on passing downs but he's to tall and plays to high to be a full time 3 tech. I like Bosa better but Buckner will be good in a 3-4 or 4-3.

The Cowboys have their own analysts, if they believe Buckner could play in a 4-3 scheme then he will get fair consideration. I personally don't trust Bosa to play up to the hype he is getting in the press so I'm hoping the Cowboys do give fair consideration to Buckner.

Poor scheme fit. He's a 3-4 end.

I think he could be a fine 3. I don't think he is a great fit as a 4/3 de.
Inside I think he could be a very good player but is a DT at 4 smart in a draft loaded with DT's? If you want a de then take the best de. I'm all about adding a DT but not at 4

I prefer Ramsey and Zeke as well but I think Buckner may have the highest ceiling and would love to have him.

Get he and David Irvin on the line togeher at the same time.

What is Seattle doing now?

I agree those are his strengths but I think he can play both sides although he doesn't have the bend of a great weak side rusher. My guess is he can move inside in SPs as well as play SDE primarily.

That's not a plural, it's a present tense verb form, and that's not what it implies. His Oregon career is in the past, so it would use the past tense: He "played" at Oregon.

If I had said "he plays too high" would you take that to assume he suited up tonight?

He was insanely productive for a defensive lineman the last two seasons with 163 tackles. He's ranked third best player on nil.com. And best of all, he is more likely to be on the field for the first four games of the season than some of the other prospects.

Newer really all that impressed with him in college, and I don't think he's what we're looking for in this style of defense (at DE).

we couldn't use a 6'7"/300 lb athlete who plays 100 snaps a game ?

Nobody knows if the Cowboys think there's anything "wrong" with him. He very well could be their #1 defensive target. He's just not too popular on this board. We will find out Thursday.
