What's wrong with Jeff Driskel?

The problem with this logic is that he transferred after the staff that caused the problems was gone.

But it had nothing to do with promises the new staff was making to their recruits though?

I'm not getting much more on this..... Take what I'm saying as an understanding of the situation or a grain of salt

This post sums up why I do not want to use the first pick on a QB.
If the Cowboys were drafting an immediate starter then I would support a first round QB.

If there was a absolute "immediate starter" we wouldn't touch him from the 4th spot this year..........overall draft too weak, now with Thunsill rumors that he was in the room when the DT from Ole Miss fell out of the window.......????'s

that's like saying, "why draft Tyron Smith with the 10th pick when you can get Chaz Green in the 4th."

They are ranked in rounds for a reason.

Or like saying, 'why draft Akili Smith in rd 1 when you can get Tom Brady in rd 6'. We could play that game forever. That's meaningless.

Pre-draft rankings are not a reliable barometer for success, especially internet message board pre-draft rankings, which, quite frankly, are often a product of group-think, fandom biases and self-fulfilling prophecies. These things need to be questioned.

I don't see this massive gap between the top guys, save Goff, and the middle-tier guys--especially if the intention is to sit the guy for two years.

The hype around Wentz, especially, is just over the top. This is a guy that has played the exact amount of college games as Driskel, against FCS competition. Driskel gets knocked for not playing well against top competition, and yet Wentz doesn't get dinged at all for having never played top competition.

Driskel left because he wasn't given assurances he would start. He didn't want to risk playing his last year on the bench.

Great numbers, arm, accuracy, leadership, vision, mobility, intangibles. He checks all these boxes.

We're all hyped up to take a QB at 4, even one from the FCS, and have them sit for 2 years behind Romo. But what's wrong with doing the same thing with a 2nd 3rd round pick? Especially when the guy probably has the same amount of raw talent. If we're going to nurture a QB for years, then why does it have to be a player from the first round?

Driskel got all the qualities of a top pick, but with a obviously inconsistent college career.

The one game on draftbreakdown: http://draftbreakdown.com/video/jeff-driskel-vs-arkansas-state-2015/

PS. Dixon rocks. I hope we find a way to grab him too.

He looks like a solid prospect but the offense he played in college did his pro career no favors.

He is definetely years away from being ready.

I think he's a 4th rounder.

"obviously inconsistent college career." One box he didn't check.

That's my biggest concern, obviously. His senior season tape is just awesome. But some of that Florida tape is just...ugh

But the same goes for every QB. There's always something. Rodgers was a system QB, Brady had the body of a suburban teenager, Romo had a weak arm and played in the wrong division.

We're gonna have to take a chance on one of these guys, and he will invariably come with some kind of universally agreed fundamental flaw in his game.

Until he actually plays the game and the flaw disappears

Yeah, the more I read, I'd put him in the 4th. But I feel he'll go in the third because some team will become enamored with him and take a chance
