both the Giants and Dolphins where double teaming him pretty much all game. once Ellis comes back and/or Spencer gets more experience watch out

This statement is almost as almost as preposterous as WMDs in Iraq...He's not getting doubled most times and certainly wasn't against NY.

He's dead - your negative vibes killed him.

I see some are still drinkin from the Kool aid...All of us love Ware but let's call it what it is, he's not being rested or saved to unleash at some juncture down the line...He's gettin stood up at the line of scrimmage and most times simply one on one...THAT is what gets me...The best pass rushers in the history of the game could never be contained 1v1...I see Ware getting tied up from the snap of the ball, he gets engaged with the lineman and is swallowed up...You never see Ware just blow by his man or juke by him...It's true we haven't seen him flipped back and forth or used like an LT or anything but then again, he's not getting past his man.

I see issues of strength and technique there completely negating his speed and making him a very one dimensional and ordinary pass rusher instead of the hybrid LB/DE rusher that he was drafted for.

Perhaps having him down in a stance rather rushing straight up has hampered the guy?

Most people aren't going to like what you said, but there is a lot of truth in it. I watched him quite a bit yesterday and he was not disruptive. Sure he got some double teams, but a good bit of the time he was one on one with the tackle and it was a stalemate with Ware either bullrushing with little effect or looping so far outside on the rush that Green would have had to run a bootleg to run into him.

The quick drops obviously will cut down on the sack stats but if you watch our pass rushers, with the exception of Ratliff, they almost never beat the blocker one on one. Oh yeah, I forgot...Canty did on the last play of the game.

The looping run around by Ware, it's a good point...I see him do that too much really and it's only useful if the QB doesn't get a quick release and sits in the pocket...One of Haley's best attributes was his ability to juke his man at the snap and would either go outside or inside...I see Ware try to juke outside too much and seem to avoid going into the middle where the traffic is...But, true, he's not beating his man one on one...Where are the spin moves?...I also see him going too high too often and loses the leverage that his speed affords him...And maybe lining up wider would make a difference too because he gets bottled up almost at the snap...He needs space to do his thing and I think the scouting report on Ware probably reads like this, 'Engage DWare'...That pretty much negates him.

Too slow. That's my read on Ware. Before you flame me by quoting his 40 times, let me add that when he does get past his man he is often a step too slow to disrupt, hurry, or sack the QB. He may by fast, but the quickness and explosiveness is just not there.

I'd be more concerned with a total bust like Carpenter or a guy like Spears. If we got any kind of contribution from these former first rounders Ware would be having a field day out there.

I blame Parcells.
Bill turned DeMarcus into a robot, when a T101 cyborg might have been a better option.

I think about some of the recent 1st rounders and the 'What ifs' come up.

2007 1st Round Pick
#26 Anthony Spencer DE/LB
Notables: Joe Staley OT, Alan Branch DT

2006 1st Round Pick
#18 Bobby Carpenter LB
Notables: Manny Lawson DE/LB, Demeco Ryans LB, Addai RB, Holmes WR

2005 1st Round Pick
#11 DeMarcus Ware LB/DE
Notables: Merriman LB, Jammal Brown OT

#20 Marcus Spears DE (Buffalo Pick)
Notables: Matt Jones WR, Marlin Jackson CB

2004 1st Round Pick

Traded #22 pick to Buffalo (JP Losman) for #43, #144 and 2005 #1 (Spears)

#43 Julius Jones RB
Notables: Stephen Jackson RB, Tatum Bell RB, Daryl Smith LB

#52 Jacob Rogers OT
Notables: Michael Boulware LB

#144 Sean Ryan TE

The 2004 trade of skipping Stephen Jackson was probably the right move even in hindsight as it afforded the team 3 players for 1...Can't fault the move simply because they fumbled on the picks...JJ, Ryan and Spears for Stephen Jackson?...Not even but so far they did provide a little something that simply one pick didn't, even if Spears has been pretty useless...When it's all said and done, however, we're likely to only have Sean Ryan next season...Would you take Ryan over Stephen Jackson?...Probably not.

2006 Draft just looks bad any way you look at it...2007 is obviously still a work in progress...2005?...The eternal debate, Merriman or Ware...Right now, it still favors Merriman.

Does anyone see us using some of the zone drops that the Patriots used last night against the Chargers. Having down lineman suddenly pop up between the QB and slanting receiver caused Rivers serious problems last eve and seems like a great weapon versus 3 and 5 step drops.

I really think that once Newman gets back, Ware will explode. He's been a fraction of a second away from about 10 sacks. Newman gives us that extra fraction in coverage. His absence effects more than just the pass coverage.

I like this statement! See, teams are not going to be able to gameplan for his whereabouts all the time. Once this defense starts to really learn this scheme and start to jell...bad things are going to happen, man...............bad things, man!

Have we been moving Ware around? getting him out of some double teams? curious?

I could be wrong, but, I thought I saw Ware on both ends at one time or another when switching sides with Spencer and one time somewhere in the middle...

Someone might correct me if I am wrong...

Our defense still isn't disguising very well compared to other 3-4 teams for whatever reason although I do see some noticeable difference mainly with the timing. Most teams players make their huge plays off of deception and we still aren't doing that... maybe waiting for Newman? I don't know, but I'd like to see how ware is once (if ever?) the scheme starts getting into the head of the opposing offense with mind games.

Merriman getting busted for roids puts Ware WAY ahead imo

He was MIA in yesterdays game. Is he getting double teamed on most plays? It looks like he's trying the speed rush the LT and the QB is just stepping up to evade him. Is he not stepping up or is he just getting double teamed?:bang2:

yes, the player that virtually every personnel guy in the league would kill for is lousy and just doesnt cut it ...maybe we should pack him along with all our other scrubs like Jones, Spears and Roy and try to get a couple of 2nd day picks or a backup CB

Not sure how the leap from not playing up to his level/abilities goes to being lousy but somewhere there's a disconnect.

No one suggests Ware is lousy but to constantly throw spin out there that he is simply being double teamed or 'just missing' the QB by a whisper are even bigger leaps...Perhaps the biggest problem may end up being that he isn't being used in the best way or in the best scheme but from what I have seen, when he is 1v1, he is not demonstrating he is the coveted talent that you suggest...He has looked ordinary a lot, so far...It's either strength, technique or both.

Ware needs to pick it up a bit. I won't be a complete homer :)
If I can get on Carps case, and I even got on Newman's case last year a little, Ware is certainly not above criticism.

Same goes for anyone on this team who is not producing, they will be flogged. ;)
