yes, the player that virtually every personnel guy in the league would kill for is lousy and just doesnt cut it ...maybe we should pack him along with all our other scrubs like Jones, Spears and Roy and try to get a couple of 2nd day picks or a backup CB

Where did I say Ware is a lousy player?

All I asked is to why his impact has been non existent over the past two games. I went back and watched his one-on-one battles yersterday and he was NOT double teamed all day. He would try and rush around the tackle and the tackle would just ride him outside the pocket and Green would just move up in the pocket. It happened alot.

Perhaps it was a scheme to open up lanes for the backers?

 He did not get much preassure, but who really knows what or how this defense is being taught? This is not last years defense although it is the 3/4...we just don't know what or how each role is going to be played this year.

Chill and give it time...

I'm seriously disappointed and surprised that he doesn't have at least a couple of sacks by now. My sig is on life support. :(

Who would be early DPOY at this point?...On a defense so far that is not wowing anyone, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a viable candidate.

Ratliff?

After all is said and done, battles must be won at the point of attack. Scheming can certainly enhance a unit's ability to maximize the talent of its personnel, but those individual engagements - particularly in the trenches - is at the heart of this matter.

I love DeMarcus, but he is not the first pass rusher to be doubled, chipped on, held, etc. Offenses have not revolutionized modern-day pass protections for Ware. While, he is a good young OLB, he is not quite the game-changing presence we would all like him to be. Not yet anyway.

That said, he doesn't get much in the way of help. Ware does draw quite a bit of attention. Even with that, no one else is really taking advantage of it. That shouldn't happen.

And he's not the first pass-rusher to go a whole two games without a sack.

No doubt about that. His sack total through the first two games is not atop my list of concerns.

We were oh so close to sacks yesterday on many occasions. We were just a step short a bunch of times. Like others have said, Miami made a point to get the ball out very quick. That's why their longest pass completion was 26 yards. Game plan.

He was MIA in yesterdays game. Is he getting double teamed on most plays? It looks like he's trying the speed rush the LT and the QB is just stepping up to evade him. Is he not stepping up or is he just getting double teamed?:bang2:

He never really had a Sophomore slump. Could it possibly have come a year later? Regardless, he will play through it and prosper. I have mad faith in him.

Ware will be fine. I would like him to develop a nasty streak (if that's even possible). Yep, his biggest problem just might be his temperament , it's certainly not his ability on the field.

Yeah...everyone forgets that the team had to do a plane layover in N.O. so that city could see and meet a real football team...then arrive late to the Hotel in Miami...go to sleep and lose the game...?

Not!

One road game out of the way....

I'm not going to bash Ware, I just want him to pick it up. You know like you tell your son, "hey, pick it up son".

I think about some of the recent 1st rounders and the 'What ifs' come up.

2007 1st Round Pick
#26 Anthony Spencer DE/LB
Notables: Joe Staley OT, Alan Branch DT

2006 1st Round Pick
#18 Bobby Carpenter LB
Notables: Manny Lawson DE/LB, Demeco Ryans LB, Addai RB, Holmes WR

2005 1st Round Pick
#11 DeMarcus Ware LB/DE
Notables: Merriman LB, Jammal Brown OT

#20 Marcus Spears DE (Buffalo Pick)
Notables: Matt Jones WR, Marlin Jackson CB

2004 1st Round Pick

Traded #22 pick to Buffalo (JP Losman) for #43, #144 and 2005 #1 (Spears)

#43 Julius Jones RB
Notables: Stephen Jackson RB, Tatum Bell RB, Daryl Smith LB

#52 Jacob Rogers OT
Notables: Michael Boulware LB

#144 Sean Ryan TE

The 2004 trade of skipping Stephen Jackson was probably the right move even in hindsight as it afforded the team 3 players for 1...Can't fault the move simply because they fumbled on the picks...JJ, Ryan and Spears for Stephen Jackson?...Not even but so far they did provide a little something that simply one pick didn't, even if Spears has been pretty useless...When it's all said and done, however, we're likely to only have Sean Ryan next season...Would you take Ryan over Stephen Jackson?...Probably not.

2006 Draft just looks bad any way you look at it...2007 is obviously still a work in progress...2005?...The eternal debate, Merriman or Ware...Right now, it still favors Merriman.

Very good post, but I must protest you throwing Matt Jones in there. You almost got him past me too.

Are we winning with Ware being invisible? Good, then shut up, stop and stop crying. If we were losing and Ware had 10 sacks would you be happy?

The player selected after him had a couple of sacks yesterday...
After the 'roid bust,he still gets to the QB.

To emphasize the point...

After 2 games
Julius Peppers - 0 sacks
Dwight Freeney - 0 sacks
Terrell Suggs - 0 sacks
Adalius Thomas - 0 sacks

They weren't exactly playing the Dolphins...
They played against some little team that may go undefeated.
