Mine, ever since the draft was moved to 8, every year around 3PM I want Gettysburg. Great movie and at 4 hoursish, great time killer. After that right before the draft starts I get too cooking ( unless Im doing ribs that year) This year im going with lime mejito steak fajitas which seriously looking forward to almost as much as the draft

Lots of pacing, nervous energy, and great anticipation. I'm hopeless.

All I want to hear today is: With the 27th pick in the 1st round, the Dallas Cowboys select Eddie Goldman. :D

Ignore it until about 9:30 (eastern time). Catch up to what's going on by going online. Then, I'll listen to Dallascowboys.com while watching ESPN muted.
Oh, and get on CowboysZone eventually to read all the whining and moaning and rueing.

Day before: Run all my errands, load up the fridge, let people know not to bother me tomorrow unless someone has died.

Draft day: Order a pizza, turn off the phone, sit home in my underwear watching NFL Network's Draft coverage, Online listening to Norm, reading comments here, and getting seriously fat for the next 3 days.

Sit at work and and chew my fingernails...

Also, refreshing Cowboyszone waiting for some interesting rumor that sparks a 10 page heated discussion.

When on weekends, get up early Sat morning, have all my papers and lists I made.
This was prior to the internet availability of all the stuff there is now. Had to get info from newspapers. Then crossed off players as selected to see who the cowboys could get.
But also did this more so when the Cowboys had all the Walker trade picks. After that I slacked off of doing that as much.

I still had my lists, but printed off the internet. Last year did about the same, but this year I have done nothing. Since the new format, I haven't done as much. Just not as exciting to me back when it was on the weekend.

When Ware was drafted, I missed the entire draft. Was in South Korea working, so with the time difference, and no TV coverage had to rely on the internet the following day.

i usually watch the draft.

***** n whine about how long some picks take.

***** n whine about how the pagentry of who's making which pick slows things down to a crawl.

***** n whine about goodell for "xyz". again later. and again. and yet again.

***** n whine about the cowboys pick. only this year i may have already crashed by the time we get there.

start drooling and wake up in time to go to bed for friday to do it again.

I don't have a ritual anymore. I have to give Goodell credit, I think the change in the draft format was smart. However, I would have never gotten it out of NYC. The NYC fans made that draft and I'm not really sure that other cities can do the same. Either way, it's still a slap in the face to the fans that showed up in the smoky rooms of the old hotel (can't remember which one) and stayed throughout the entire draft on both days and lived and died by the picks. Anyway, I really wish they would do this on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with rounds 1 and 2 on Friday. Make the selection times quicker. The entire Round 1 on Thursday and Round 2 on Friday is just too separated out for my tastes.

Back in the day when the draft first started, a few friends and I would get about a half dozen draft magazines, order Pizza and 100 wings. Then as we got older, alcohol would get involved.

But, those days are long gone.

I have went to the draft in person a long time ago in NYC.
First Marriott Marquis then the Theater in MSG.
It's moved from being a small show to the big time - more money in the owners pockets.
Those were up way early and wait in line to get in. Read your draft guides and fill out the sheet on what your first round mock draft would be like.
The draft starts and everything you thought would happen goes out the window by about the 5th pick.
Now it stay at home and watch the results on BSPN.

I play softball on Thursday night, have been for about 10 years now. So, we always request our game early on this night, then hang around the park in their one of their bars and get hammered :)

Work all day, pick the kid up from track, cook dinner, do laundry, water the plants, walk the dogs, and try to catch the last of an event ruined by having it on a freaking Thursday night!

Lately, it's been checking twitter while I'm out taking care of personal business in the evenings and hoping to get home in time to catch the Cowboys pick on TV.

Back when the draft was Saturday and Sunday it was Bloody Mary's and Screw Driver's with buddies in the morning. Then we would fire up the grill for hot wings, burgers and brats...eat and have beers all day. The memory that sticks out the most is when the Vikings let the clock run out and the next few picks flew off the board. Now I just watch Thursday and Friday nights and check occasionally on Saturday.
