What's your favorite song at the moment?

I enjoy music all across the spectrum :D which means I'm dangerously close to posting a Nickelback song and ruining it all :) .. well in other people's eyes ..

That said, I rarely buy DVDs or CDs any more as there are so many streaming, subscription, etc. services out there. There's just too many good bands and great songs for me to focus on a few of them even when I really like them :(
I like a lot of different music but this is where I draw the line.

The funny thing is that people always say they hate Nickelback, yet they actually do very well with music sales. That article above says "$45 would also buy you a lot of pickles, which have more fans on facebook than the band" yet I just checked and Nickelback has over 16 million fans on facebook.

My point is that it's an internet trope to hate on Nickelback, but in the end, a lot of people still like them whether they publicly admit it or not. I am not a huge Nickelback fan by any means, but I do like a couple of their songs. That said, I do not let anyone dictate what I like and dislike. Given the wide range of music I enjoy, I'm always hearing people say things like, "You like rap? I hate rap because it's just people talking who can't sing" or "You like heavy metal? I hate it because it's just people screaming who can't sing" or "You like trance? It's just the same beats and sounds repeated over and over". There are always easy insults to levee toward any music genre just as the article above showed.

Exactly what I said when I saw Bananarama's Greatest Hits.
But it is like Reality said, someone sure as hell likes them because they sold a bunch of product. Same goes with B-52's to me, why did they even exist?

Subjectivity is a funny thing and I don't think it's necessary at all. Everyone should like what I like and we could dispense with all of this waste like cottage cheese and ricotta cheese. These are two totally unnecessary products. Could toss them and put more beer in there and better use the space.

Unfortunately, there are too many people with bad taste in music who ruin it for the rest of us.

Spin it how you want, their "music" is horrible and having fans that like the music doesn't change my opinion.
The article was poking fun. And it worked because you actually looked on FB to compare the number of friends. I know a bunch of people that like them, so what? I mock them too.

There's no spin, just pointing out that many people let others shape their opinions. Yes, I looked at their Facebook page (I've never had a Facebook account so not that it matters) because stats and information are really good to have when dealing with herd mentalities. I don't like Justin Beiber's music, but millions of people do. The difference is I don't have this need to put those people down. They like it, they listen to it. I don't, so I don't listen to it. That's all that matters.

I don't think the guy who wrote the article REALLY meant the FB numbers to be legit. It was all out of fun, I wish some didn't take things so serious. Are we not allowed to poke fun just because they have a bunch of fans? I say no. All in good fun.
