Like it or not.... ITS IMPORTANT!

If healthy. We should lock him up? Unless there are any better options out there.... not.

Come on here, YoMick! He kicked one field goal, and now you want to sign him long term?

Actually 3 outta 4. :)

Lets wait and see how he does the rest of the season and look at what may be available during the off season.

If he is successful the rest of the season and the playoffs he is going to be expensive to lock up IMO

Not knocking the idea, but it's a bit early. I would like to see how he finishes the season. If he finishes strong and we're doing well, then by all means, let's get the man a contract.

Jerry won't hesitate if he and Parcells feels that it's worth it.

From what I could tell in our last game, he seemed to have some of that swagger that he had back in his Tampa Bay Super Bowl run.

Umm...NO.

Unless he has found the fountain of youth and lights it up for the rest of the year. But i don't think he will. If we have to rely on the kicker every week, we will not be going far. Plus, his kickoffs are not impressive.

I think he gives the Cowboys a sweetheart deal for giving him a chance to revive his career. However much he may be asking for remains to be seen but I'll sure that JJ and JJ. jr are already talking to his agent.

I agree. No need to get in a rush and sign him long term until he proves himself.

He'd have to show a hell of a lot to become "expensive" - 10 years of being one of the best kickers in the game got Adam Vinateri 2.5 mill a year. That's expensive. A few good games by someone who sucked for his last few years, won't make Gramatica expensive.

You need to pump the brakes on Grammy a bit. Let's wait to see how this thing plays out. Also, Jerry Jones said there would be no more high priced kickers signed, so Grammy might price himself out of a job if he asks for BIG money at the end of his contract.

I'd imagine we'd probably try and lock him up for a 2-3 year contract during the off-season after he's proven his worth.

Parcells said he made the team after that game-winning field goal. But I would imagine he made the team for this year.

He was a 80% kicker before he was injured. If he proves his old form he may not be Vinateri expensive but still very well could be in the top 30% of the kickers pay in the league. With what we already have tied up with Vanderjagt, he could be expensive for a kicker.

I imagine he gets a 1-year deal for the minimum with a tiny signing bonus.

3 out of 4... one being a game winner to start to pull away with the division. Remember what the kickers cost us last year. THAT!

He is only 31. Just turned 31 as a matter of fact. We signed 36 year old Vandy.. so ...

Exactly.
Might want to lock down at a deal... soon... besides its documented that his poor season were injury related and he was kicking with muscle damage.

End of year he may ask too much...

Was just throwing it out there... I know some dont like kickers and have their dislikes about them.... BUT we are in first place because of HIM. He accounted for 9 points in FG and 2 points PAT's

I would agree with one exception - if he were to pull off a few more clutch kicks, I'd try and lock him up a bit longer with a league minimum and add an incentive clause.

Honestly what he did back from 1999-2002 means nothing. Yes, he was hurt. So what? Every team in the league has had the chance to bring him in after he got healthy -- and he's had no takers. Then, magically, after he makes a big kick, he's going to all of a sudden be in demand. Come on now.
