Seriously guys.. this guy will get reinstated if all goes as planned. At what point in the season do we start him. This guy would easily beat out Henry. I think Henry needs moved to FS and Hamlin moved to SS. Bring RW in on obvious running downs but hes just too much of a liability in coverage to be a starter. Put Jenkins in as a nickel cb.

Someone please tell me the weakness in this lineup.
CB Pacman
FS Henry
SS Hamlin
CB Newman
Nickel CB Jenkins.

Thats got the be the best backfield in the league. I just dont see any sense in delaying that if and when Pacman is ready.

That's a clever way to disguise your Roy thread right there. ;)

....but as far as the original question goes, I say we start him when he earns it.

When do we start Pacman? Simple he comes to camp and earns the job. He has been out for over a year nothing should be handed to him.

I love the enthusiasm, but let's walk before we run.

Pacman - Hasn't played in over a year.
Henry - He has never played Safety and he won't be playing FS this season IMO.
Jenkins - He's still a rookie.

I agree, but he has played safety. IIRC, he played much of his college career at USF at FS. FWIW.

I guess I was going on the idea that playing it ten years ago was like never playing it at all. lol.

And I think he could make the move to FS, but he isn't going to come out on opening day as the starting FS. That's more what I meant.

Yeah.

I'm of the notion that he will never see time at FS. People are enamored with the idea because he's slow for a CB, but at FS it wouldn't be as much of an issue. I think many of the same people are forgetting that 1. when he's healthy, he's very good at CB and 2. he's rarely healthy. How do you expect him to stay healthy at a position that asks you to be more physical.? It's not that I don't think he could play it, I just don't think the coaches would ask him to. That and the fact that we have some good depth at FS already with Hamlin, Watkins, and Brown.

Henry played FS with Cleveland his rookie season and had 10 interceptions.

He's terrific at safety.

Good point. Henry has terrific ball instincs but his man on man is horrid at times. Slow foot speed and hips hinder him a lot.

Pacman will be just fine after he knocks a little rust off. I can buy that he might not be reinstated, but I don't buy that he'll be anything other than effective once he starts playing.

Jenkins has plenty of skill to have an impact as a nickel back as a rookie. There are plenty of rookie DB's that play well as rookies... many without near the talent that Jenkins has. I don't think it's going out on a limb to predict that Jenkins will help in the nickel and dime.

Heck, Scandrick might help as well. He and Jenkins will be worlds better than Nate Jones and Reeves were last year, IMO.

Yeah. Henry staying healthy would be my only concern with him at FS.

First of all, if you think they're going to move Henry to FS mid-year or later in training camp because of Pacman, I think you're crazy.

Pacman will get the starting nod when they trust him completely and when he proves he knows the defense and plays better than Henry or when someone is injured.

The starters on opening day, barring injury, will be exactly what we'd hoped for last offseason...TNew and Henry at CB and Hamlin and Roy at safety. Pacman, if he can shake off the rust and immediately perform better than anyone else after a year out of the sport, not even practicing with NFL players, will be the 3rd CB and play plenty. But that's about it...he's not going to be taking anyone's starting job this year, imo...not unless it's getting towards the final 4 games and he's clearly heads and shoulders above Henry and Henry is hurting us...you also have to be able to trust your starter before you bench the current guy.

I see no way...NO WAY that Anthony Henry will be playing FS this year...at best, he could be playing as another CB in the prevent, which is the same thing some others did last year when Roy was out of the game, which wasn't often.

The type of changes you are suggesting are at least a year away, imo.

If Adam Jones comes in and can play in TC, I have no doubt he's going to take Henry's job -- don't get me wrong, I think Henry is a great #2. But Jones is a #1 corner on most teams in this league.

If that happens and Jenkins is the real deal, I will for the first time get on the Henry to FS bandwagon.

He's terrific at safety.

He wasn't the starting FS in Cleveland. He started two games all season. One was against the Pats as the third CB because the Browns started out in the Nickel. The other game he started was against the Jags as the LCB.

Those 10 INT's. Three were in game 2 against the Browns who threw 7 total in the game. Let's just say Ty Detmer was giving them out that day.

Another 3 of them were in week 10 against the one and only Elvis Grbac. He seemed to be giving them out that day as well, he had 4 total in the game.

Then he had 2 in week 14 against Marc Brunell and the 5-8 Jaguars.

So let's hold of on the 'He's terrific at Safety' based on him playing the position in a nickel defense about 7 or 8 years ago and getting the gift of going up against three crap QB's in said games.

Lions. I remember that game. I was laughing sooo hard because Mornhinweg went into it saying Detmer knew how to run the WCO very well and he was going to jumpstart their offense.
