When do we start to wonder about Melton?

Next year's draft will be all about MLB and 3-tech.

Edit: And I want to add another thing. Most of us here think Crawford would make a better SDE in this defense. We might be right. But, so far all indications show the coaching staff is pretty adament about teaching Crawford how to play the 3-tech. This has me thinking we have no intentions of renewing Melton next year.

Dallas has a lot of guys that can play the 3-tech.... Crawford, Bass, McClain, Gardner, Okoye, Coleman, even Mincey. I think DE and LB will be the two positions Dallas targets early in the draft next season.

Gotta admit, I've been WONDERING about Melton ever since we acquired him. Anytime we acquire guys that are still rehabbing from serious injuries, it will always make me wonder. Needless to say, we've already welcomed a fair number of those to VR.

I'll start WORRYING about Melton if and when training camp has already gotten underway and he still hasn't taken the field. That'd probably be the appropriate time for the wringing of hands to commence, imho. Ouch! Let's hope that won't come to pass.

Obviously, I am glad they are going conservative with him, but apparently, he is behind schedule on rehab. If he is unable to participate in minicamp, are you concerned? If he misses preseason games, what then?

Doubt we see him until Season Opener.

I get that it is okay to skip OTAs as he knows the system well enough. But he has to shake the rust off. If that doesn't happen until the opener, not good.

Melton is coming back from acl he hurt on October. If it takes him a year we are cooked.

And Bears fans say he didn't exactly have the best focus or work ethic... That's the only thing that concerns me a little.

I'm sure he'll be okay, but I doubt he's at his best the first game or two.

If he is behind rehab schedule, why would he be on the field during OTA's? He would be on the side working with the trainers doing rehab work.
