They dont want comfort. Misery is preferred. They're like the girl who needs dysfunction and drama with a loser BF with the suspended DL so she has to drive him everywhere, rather than a guy with stability in life and has his act together.

Well, I must say, that about nails it.

Probably the most accurate, concise description I've seen on here.

They self medicate with the misery and lamenting.

And the girl with the loser BF, well, he's the one wearing the ball cap with the flat bill and the hat is too big so he can wear it down over his ears, walking around with a dumb look on his face. I imagine E-Lie would be one of these if he didnt grow up in the family he did and end up playing QB.

for twenty years this team has been constant misery I remember the good times and good teams that was fun this short time is how it will look after tony. without a qb you don't win regardless how young or talented you are and there is not a lot of that or they would of won some games before now it is what it is though

Even a top tier QB doesnt mean you'll win. It means you have a chance. But when you have other teams with top tier QB's and top tier coaches its a tough mountain to climb if you dont have the same.

I don't seem to worry so much anymore over the success of the Cowboys when I see the decline of America and western civilization going on right in front of me .

I don't watch any old videos as the past is over with.. I don't bring the past in conversations much either. All I care about is recent history.

But when I'm down about the Cowboys I just look at other teams that are terrible this season. ..browse their forum and get a good laugh. We're all basically the same if you think about it though.

If the team has actually constant misery for you for twenty years, why the hell are you still following them?

When I start to get depressed about the Cowboys, I just remind myself that it's just a stupid game, and not even a game in which I'm participating, this is just a game I'm watching for entertainment value.

I've distanced myself a lot from sports in recent years. I watch...but a lost less. I care...but a lot less.

When watching football or baseball I tell myself: It's not my game. I have my own world in which I compete...in which I have control...in which I am the chief gladiator. It's a ton more fun investing my time and interest in that sport.

And no, I am not talking about computer games.

When the fate of the Cowboys gets me down, I simply recall that there's much more to life than to put all of my emotional eggs into one basket. There are too many other things to enjoy than to allow a team's fate to get me down. If you find that there just aren't enough pleasures to give you solace, it's high time to add one that does.

Ugh because he's a fan. A fan keeps following no matter how dire things get.

Sports are entertainment. If it's actually making one miserable for years or decades, continuing to follow is stupid, IMO. Life is too short to follow a team if it is bringing you misery.

I've been a diehard Cowboys fan all my life, but let me tell you, the day following the team ever makes my life miserable, I'd move on.

@ least your not a Jets fan...and stuck w/ Joe Nameth for all these years

True - or a Cleveland fan with Brian Sipe or a Chiefs fan with Len Dawson or a Bills fan with Jim Kelly or a Detroit fan with...I dunno - Eric Hipple?
