I'm referring to regular season, of course. I remember losses to Wash, Detroit, St. Louis, NYG, but I can't remember the last win to end the regular season.

No that wasn't the last game of the year. Might it actually be 1999 against the Giants?

Was that the last game of the season? I'm trying to look it up, but not having much success.

nevermind...that was the second to last game.

I just found it. It was the 99 season. They won at the Giants 26-18 on 01/02/00. Wow. Almost a decade.

yup. 1999 vs. the Giants

We won 26-18.

Emmitt had 122 yards rushing
J Tucker had 122 yards receiving
Aikman had 288 yards passing

Raghib Ismail had 1 TD
J Tucker had a 90 yard TD from Aikman

All I know is, I had less gray hair then. More hair, too.

It was so long ago that I don't even remember the game and that's saying a lot. I didn't have Sunday Ticket back then (if it even existed).

Let me put it to you this way.

Not under Wade's watch unless we do it this year. That would be 2 years.

Not under Parcells' Watch. That's 4 years.

Not under Campo's watch. That's 3 years.

1999 was the last time we won the last game of the season. We won both years under Chan Gailey.

Then you go all the way back to the last Super Bowl years. We lost in 1994, but won in 1992, 1993, and 1995.

So since the Jerry watch began in 1989 we have won 6 and lost 13 of the last games of the season.

1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998, & 1999 for the wins. We have not won in this decade on the last game of the season.

1989, 1990, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, & 2007 for the losses.

I guess you can say we are due.

OUCH. We must break this trend on Sunday!!! I've been disappointed a lot over the last 12 years, but a loss on Sunday would really bring me down. For me it would be worst than last year, even though more was expected of the Cowboys then.

Landry wasn't too hot at closing out the season in the 1980s, even when he had playoff teams.

1980 beat the Eagles
1981 lost to Giants in OT
1982 lost to Vikings but Dorsett had a 99 yard run
1983 lost to 49ers in a blowout
1984 lost to Dolphins on a last minute Marino pass
1985 lost to 49ers and it wasn't close
1986 started Reggie Collier at QB and lost to Bears
1987 beat the Cardinals
1988 lost to the Buddy Ryan-led Eagles

Regarding the last game of the season. We are 21- 27 overall to this point.

In the 1960's...6-4

In the 1970's...7-3

In the 1980's...2-8

In the 1990's 6-4

In the 21st Century...0-8

We were 15-14 under Tom Landry.

3-2 under Jimmy.

1-3 under Barry.

2-0 under Chan.

0-3 under Campo.

0-4 under the Big Tuna.

0-1 under Wade.

Very nice research HOS. Hopefully we can break the trends Sunday. We sure know that we need too.

Scary Note of the Day

The good news is that the Cowboys have a chance to get into the playoffs. They just need to beat Philadelphia next Sunday.

Now here’s the bad news. Actually two items of it. Remember the last time the Cowboys and Eagles played? It was a Monday night, September thriller that resulted in a Dallas 41-37 win. The Cowboys needed every single one of their *then* healthy players (Marion Barber was 100%, remember those days?) to get the victory.

Now, this might be the REALLY bad news. The Cowboys have lost their last 8 season finales. EIGHT! They haven’t won in the final game of the regular season this decade, this century or this millennium. The last regular season finale win was in 1999 against the Giants. I’m not saying history is the ultimate predictor of the future but……OUCH!!!!!!

Going to be tough. I’m just sayin’.

Sounds really bad when you put it that way.

This will be the first time this decade that the last game really means something.

Every year its either we are already in the playoffs or we have already been eliminated.
