When It Rains

Few players want to come to the Boys these days unless Jerry breaks the bank. Just a fact!
Well also stephen is not offering much, and the cowboys havent been winning, and the coaching staff doesnt wow anyone
across the league.
Right now on RB's and WR would want to come here. and only those willing to play cheap.

We pretty much have to be cheap to sign up all these pro-bowl OL we have coming up. Without using the
cap adjustment credit card, we don't have lots of wiggle room.

Glad to hear you can take it. There are several on here that cant.

Your 70% theory is based on Romo being healthy for most of the season. Which there is no way that you can predict. If I had to guess, I would say its 50/50 that he plays 14 or more games. And that 70% is probably about down to 65 or 60% with all that has happened in the last month.

Im just being realistic here. Romo has to stay healthy and nearly everything else has to go right for the boys to make the playoffs and do some damage. And from where I am standing, everything else isnt going right at the moment. In fact, they appear to be doing just the opposite. I will be cautious and realistic until the team itself proves otherwise. I wont base my theories on everything going right. Because as you keep mentioning, that doesnt happen.

Seem's to me, though, that most teams are done if their starting QB goes down, so for me, that's not reason enough to give up on the upcoming season. Simply assuming Romo will be hurt at some point this season because he has been injured before, in my view, is glass-empty-thinking...not even half-empty. As for your assertion that everything else must go right is also true of every other team trying to get to the playoffs, so again we are back to the decision that every fan has to make on their own: you either will be optimistic, on the fence, or pessimistic. I could be wrong, but I think you may be leaning towards the latter, whereas I'm leaning towards optimism...if for no other reason than I think he sucks to be anything else...but that's just me.

Add Foles saying " no to the Cowboys "

That may end up being a blessing. Think about it. The only way a Foles signing would be a good thing is if the following scenario plays out: Romo is injured for a few games and the Cowboys absolutely need a win to make the playoffs and Foles is able to deliver. If not, it would be a waste of time and Cap space. Win big or don't win at all, because at the end of the day, the odds are, the only way the Cowboys find a future successor for Romo is at the top of the first and the only way they get there is by losing big, which in the end, cost nothing, or mortgaging an entire draft to trade up.

Saying that any team that loses their starting QB is done is a cop out. There are degrees of done. There are also degrees of how likely it is that your QB will get injured. The Cowboys could only win 1 game without Romo. That is a damnation on the entire rest of the team and coaching staff. You cant tell me that all other teams are that inept. We see backups win every single year and keep teams going or play respectable. The problem is not only the dependence of Romo, but also the backup QB. Which they failed to fix in the off season.

And who said I was giving up on the season? This is not a championship caliber team, so sure I have given up on a title this year, but nothing else.

I also never assumed Romo would get hurt. I said its a 50/50 chance in my estimation that he plays 14 or more games.

I dont see the point in getting pumped up for a season that will crumble to unbearable if your 36 year old, bad back QB goes down AGAIN. This isnt Drew Brees old or Brady Old. Those cats never seem to get injured. Aaron rodgers rarely gets injured. Totally different mind set with those fans than with us.

And then lets be realistic about what COULD happen if Romo stays healthy. MAYBE playoffs?

Sorry, in my book, there is not much to get excited about there. And to top it off, I dont see the team building properly for future success. In fact, just the opposite. I can only hope I am wrong. And until prove otherwise or until I see changes in the way Jones runs the show, I will continue to be a disappointed, CRYING for better Cowboys fan. :)

I guess it boils down to what you hope to gain from your 2016 football experience. For me, if the Cowboys cannot at least go deep into the playoffs personally for the sanity of the 2017 me, I hope they lose every game. Why? Because let's face it...the only way they find Romo's eventual successor, based on hard facts, is at the very top of the first round. Anywhere else, and your hoping you are hitting on that once a decade outlier like Brady and Wilson. So, win big or lose big - in all honesty, that's the best way to build a team based on the odds. The three years of mediocrity seriously hamstringed the Cowboys ability to find top-tier talent.

We are two of the same then. Its win it all or high draft picks. To a certain extent. I have no issue with a young rising team gradually improving. I just dont see that here. I see the end of the Tony Romo era stringing out where every years off season is a win now, forget about the future attitude with Jones. Gotta get he next young stud and gotta get the defense up to top notch status. IMHO. At least he tried for Lynch this year. But if he REALLY wanted him, he went about it the wrong way.

I'm with you, would never wish injury on anyone (maybe a Commander) but Moore going down is forcing them to address a situation that quite frankly, should have been addressed months ago.
I've been saying it's more of a blessing in disguise. I'm all about giving Dak more reps. I think people are sleeping on him a bit. I just wanna see what he's got.

That is funny because fans never think players will say no to cowboys.

I think the biggest reason Foles said no was so that he could reunite with Andy Reid. But you're right. We shouldn't be surprised when a player finds what he considers to be a better deal elsewhere.

For the most part, you and I are on the same page for the exception of one - if the Cowboys can find a good replacement for Romo, I think they could for the most part pick up where they left off in 2014. They still have a top tier offensive line, #1 Wr, what I'm projecting to be a top tier running back in Zeke, good chain movers in Beasley and Witten on offense. On defense, alot of work still need's to be done, but if they could add another pass rusher, corner and safety and catch some rare luck with Jaylen, this team as a whole could be dominant after Romo. Of course, that's a big maybe, I realize that.
