Have seen a few articles and folks in the media tossing the idea out there that if Dak keeps winning-- you roll with him over a healthy Romo.

Uhhhh. No. You don't.

Romo is a top 7 QB when healthy, and the offense is MUCH more lethal with him at the helm. It is not even close.

Don't get me wrong-- I love Dak and am thrilled with how he has been playing, but under no circumstances should he be the starter with a healthy Romo on the roster.

Sorry-- had to vent after seeing another headline about this issue.

The one downside to a rookie showing up and performing well.

The silly talk that he takes Romo's job and just as bad if not worse, the ardent defense of Romo fans who feel it is their sworn duty to stamp the dumb idea out.

Would we really want to destroy all this excitement and confidence this franchise is building? You could see how much better the offense was doing in Dak's second start vs the first game. The OL, WR, AND RBs are getting used to Dak and starting to gel.

Romo at age 26-27, maybe we could justify to stick with him. However, now he is older, less durable, slower, etc... Than Dak. Dallas is buzzing with excitement right now... Do we really want to risk destroying all this just for the sake of giving Romo a 13th shot at making the playoffs?

Any thoughts?

You play Romo if he is healthy in 2016.
Period, zero questions.

Dak looks great and is the future but making the future now increases pressure upon him 10 fold.
Let him take the clipboard and if Romo isn't very good you suggest his injury is lingering and start Dak later.
This isn't a one year decision.

Dak might be more fun for Cowboys fans but what's best for Dak is some success, some time to study under Romo and take the reins next year full bore.

Romo will give you a better chance to win in all likelihood but I am not sure that matters most of all.
I think what matter is getting Dak some action then getting him out of the lineup before he hits a wall.
Let him grow in every way as the next guy up without being forced into 16 games this year.

You should never lose your job to injury. Yes I know it happened to Bledsoe in 2001 but this isn't the Patriots.

Who's the superior QB today? Tony Romo.

You play your best players if you're trying to win, which we are. Period.

Irony.

Excellent points, and thanks for response. However, don't you feel he would learn more actually playing? He obviously is not a typical rookie in terms of needing to spend a few years studying in order to ease him into the game. I remember clearly in preseason, the coaches/management were saying that the preseason reps are/were so precious for backups because that is the most snaps they will see all year. Why would we potentially stunt his growth and development? Not to mention his cohesiveness with the team.

The offense is clearly more dynamic with Dak vs Romo. We have tried Romo for 12 years and it has NEVER worked. Why not try something else? The players respond well to Dak and he has been basically ALL the media, management, coaches, etc... Have talked about since the beginning of the preseason. Stopping it would be foolish in my honest opinion.

Deon Sanders agrees with me, it is time to hit the accelerator on Dak!

He would benefit ENORMOUSLY from watching and learning from Romo. Just like Rodgers, Brady, and Brees.

He needs to see the other 75 percent of the playbook in action.

Depends on how well Dak continues to play.

The downside to Romo starting again is that if he plays a few games and gets suddenly injured, now Dak has lost those reps and may not quite get into a flow again.

You also have to wonder if the offense will be on the same rhythm since they are going from Dak to Romo.

If Dak keeps playing like he did against the Skins...there is more of a case for keeping Dak as the starter.

Of course, there's the old 'you can't lose a job to an injury' theory. But, I really don't buy into that.

So it's up to whether Dak looks more like he did against the Skins or if he looks more like he did against the Giants.

It's not really a train right now.

It's more like a bus with a bus driver.

He hasn't even thrown a TD yet. His biggest strengths so far have been:

1. No Turnover

2. 3rd down conversions

I think it is always a good time to stamp out a dumb idea.

Alright then, what exactly are Romo's strengths? 12 year droughts? It is an honest question... Im trying to keep the big picture in mind.
