I can't remember a time when I've been so ambivalent toward the start of Training Camp.
I think I and many other fans are in a wait an see what they do in the playoff, if they make it, everything else is irrelevant to a certain extent. The regular season in some ways becomes irrelevant due to being teased and ultimately let down as the season goes on.

Man I rooted for this crap when we had Chad Hutchinson playing quarterback and Drew Henson…..my excitement hasn’t wavered yet…..if you became a fan of this team late 90s and on you’ve put up with worse crap and probably excited. Now if you became one pre SB Dynasty then you probably could care less.

I'm in football mode all year.....I don't care if we are favorites or longshots....I'm a fan and I will always think every game is relevant, even preseason. I don't watch baseball and I only watch some basketball during the playoffs, that's because I'm not a fan of those sports....but, I AM A FAN OF FOOTBALL....middle school, HS, college and professional.....I can't wait to watch the XFL, too.

1 pm, 4 pm, 8 pm Sundays. 8 pm Mondays and Thursdays.

When either the Cowboys or Raiders play.

Go Cowboys!

Funny because just a year ago fans were saying we should rebuild and we were going to be 8-9 or worse.

Sounds to me like you are pretty optimistic.

Rooting has nothing to do with it. We all root for the team.

We all have hope, we all root.

I'm disgusted with the the Jones family leadership and expect nothing beyond a first round playoff exit again.
But.
It's engrained in me. I'm on this site several times a day reading just about everything. Spent an hour this morning looking at the new NFL Plus service. If a buy it for the year I can watch preseason games live up here in Missouri and listen to the regular season games not shown up here on audio and......

Long story short......I've got it bad.

I never get excited for Camp. Camp is injuries. Camp is homers telling us all scrubs will be the answer.

When preseason starts and you get to see the young guys that's when it begins for me.

Its all about understanding the quality of the team and tempering expectations. Right now, we dont have a contender.

I'll be in football mode when the season officially starts.

Thankfully, I'm busy most of this next month with vacations, weddings, and family commitments so I'm looking forward to enjoying my life and not watching Jerry, dressed like a coach in Oxnard, make bold Super Bowl proclamations in August.

Then, once the first kickoff is in the air I'll be sucked right back in.

I agree with this, but even preseason is tougher for me to get into than when I was younger. I would always find 3-5 under the radar guys I fall in love with only to find that they've been cut a couple weeks later lol. I almost never trust preseason football anymore, and just hope to come out of it with a healthy starting 22. The problem with that is you get a performance Like Dak did his rookie year against the Rams and it's one of those special "did I just see that" moments that you know isn't a fluke, and I get sucked back into watching preseason football again haha.

Yea, I know that. I've read your posts saying we could be a serious contender in a year with the development of young players and another good draft. Or something like that (not that I'd try to put words in YOUR mouth. LOL)

I'm a little more pessimistic than you about the future. But, hey, nothing would make me happier that to have this team turn into something really good again

I have not been in football mode in decades like the Arlington Jonesboys.
