I have been saying this for years. Everyone's ire is directed at the WRONG person(s). The head coach and architect of this offense is where the REAL problem lies. When your philosophy is be BETTER than the man in front of you....it requires that you have the best players...and when those players are successful...you have to PAY them. You can't be New England when it comes to contract time...and decide what positions you are NOT going to pay...when you are Dallas all the other times.

You don't want to pay a RB? Then don't draft him top 5....run him on 1st and 2nd down...then throw it to him on 3rd...or ask him to pass protect....then decide the position is NOT that important!

You don't want to pay a WR?...then don't fail miserably when deploying WR by committee....make a mid season trade for a "#1 WR"....have your season take off...then decide you don't want to pay for a "#1 WR"!

You don't want to pay a QB? Then don't look like a high school offense every time Romo got hurt...then after another Romo injury...your 4th round rookie 3rd string QB saves your job(Garrett)...and goes on to make the playoffs 2 out of 3 years....then decide he is not that good!

The truth is...Garrett is NOT that good...he needs the best players to win...and the best players COST MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which coach is available currently that can do this?
Not sure what you are trying to do. It is NOT a coincidence that Jerry did not give Garrett an extension, but at this point Garrett IS the head coach...so since that is where Jerry made his bed...he has no choice but to pay the talent Garrett has PROVEN he cannot win without!

It's just that people have been complaining about Garrett for years. Any coach needs talent. There is not a single coach out there that can just will his team to a win. People claim Belichick is the greatest coach ever but what has he ever won without Brady?

Also, has the team said they aren't going to pay any of the players? They are in talks with Dak. I believe they have started talks with Cooper. After this season they will probably start talking to Zeke. We have the money to resign our own players. We might not have a lot left to sign big name free agents but when you are good at drafting and retain your home grown talent you usually don't need more than one big signing.

I'm not suggesting you were putting Garrett and Belicheck in the same sentence...but my gosh the evidence is overwhelming. Bill Bellicheck had Tom Brady go down week 1. He inserted Matt Casell. I think Casell went on to win 10 out of 15 games. When Matt Casell took over for Tony Romo...forget winning...forget scoring...we could not even get 1st downs!!!!!!!!!!

Cassell also took over mid-season in a completely new offense with players he had never played with before. Not exactly the same situation. In either case, our offense does need to be changed. Hopefully Moore can help with that.

Duck
Here come the Garrett homies

In your haste to further your agenda (Garrett worship) you probably forgot that ‘winning’ in this organization used to mean winning the NFC or the SB

Yeah when you could field the best players and not worry about a salary cap or free agency. Somehow this is lost on the grandpas around here. There is only one team that has figured out the salary cap era.

Funny how all that matters is 'winning' until it comes time to give the organization credit for winning.
Not sure what point you are trying to make. All I am simply saying is that we are WINNING moreso because of the talent of the players...vs the coaching. So IMHO...you have to PAY these guys you have leaned on HEAVILY to win. Because I don't think we have an advantage on the sidelines on Sundays. If this ORGANIZATION thinks we win because of the ORANIZATION....then don't re-sign Dak or Cooper or Zeke and lets see what happens. But before we do that...lets not forget that this organization though that RB we tabbed to start after we let Murray walk turned out to be anything BUT a starting NFL RB. Heck...he proved to not be someone who had what it took to be a RB. This is also the same organization that thought Kellen Moore was a better QB than Dak. And I truly believe Dak would not even be Dak if Kellen Moore had been healthy when Romo went down.

What a load of BS. Coach Garrett does not unilaterally decide who to pay and when to pay them. You are only revealing your own ignorance in assumptions of how the Cowboys front office operates.

I am responding to all the fans who want to trade Zeke...or not pay Dak....or not pay Cooper.....when Garrett proves he can win with "anybody under center"...or "anybody at RB"....or "WR by committee"...then I will agree with these fans...but Garrett has proven that he needs steak at almost every position....and since he is the coach....and since we want him to win...we have to get him what he needs to win.

That is an extremely self-serving approach to dealing with Garrett and unfair to him because he will never have the opportunity to prove those things through his own doing, again that's not how the front office operates. Since when is having steak at every position a bad thing and since when is it an operation of "need" rather than just good generalship by the GM?
