When you were growing up...

I wouldn't be anyone in particular, but we would play this game we called "Earl Campbell." We would give 1 guy the ball and he could get as big a running start as he liked and he had to plow through us while we stayed at the LOS. I guess it was like an old school ST wedge buster play. Most kids didn't want to try it, but we could always get this "crazy" kid named Herby to do it. Ahhh, the good old days!

Was he crazy before doing this or just crazy after repeatedly getting knocked around by the rest of you? :D

Depending on which position I was playing I was Bob Lilly, Bob Hayes, Johnny Unitas, Lee Roy Jordan, or Mel Renfro.

I'm still Johnny U when I play QB these days since I wear black high tops like he did.

I was "Ted Hendricks" (AKA "Stork") in high school because I was tall and played OLB.

guys my size don't go for the "glammer" positions. you just don't see too many 325lb qb's running around.

what about the "Hefty Lefty":lmao2:

I always pretended that I played for the team, and usually made a game saving or winning play.

How do you do that sitting on the bench?

When I was a kid, Bud Wilkinson's Sooners were winning 47 in a row and anyone who was a Sooner was my hero, with Tommy McDonald being the last one and I followed his career after he was drafted by the Eagles and he helped lead them to their only NFL championship.

So you see where having heroes can lead you? It ain't always pretty.:

Then I quit having heros and began enjoying the athletic prowess of the best players without having any loyalty to any of them and began enjoying the game more for itself.

Bob Lilly. My Dad was such a big fan of his that when I started watching the games with him the focus was always on Lilly.
