When you were growing up...

If we pretended to be any Cowboy, it would be Staubach, which we mispronounced "Star-back" when we were pretendin'. Second choice might be Walt Garrison.

David.

I used to pretend that I was Tony Dorsett. He was a joy to watch, especially on that 99 yard TD against the Vikings on MNF.

Years later, I actually met the last guy to miss the tackle on Dorsett on that play. His name is Willie Teal. I rubbed it in when I met him during a racquetball tournament, and nearly got killed.

Daniel Boone, Davey Crockett......Mickey Mantle.

Roger the Dodger Staubach

They better not.....:lmao:

I had Danny White's #11 jersey.

I also had Lance McIllhenny's #11 SMU jersey.

Herschal Walker! Though at times I did have to spell myself to be Tony Dorrsett for a while! It was a good system and the two RBs worked well together. When half of me was tired, the other half was ready to go - the ultimate change of pace back!

Roger and Bullet Bob.

An aside ...

I used to love Calvin Hill when I was a kid. Everyone else in the family were Eagles fans. So they had me nickname Calvin Hill, Calvin "Over The" Hill. I though it was cool because I had envisioned Clavin jumping over a hill of players (obviously, I hadn't known the meaning of the expression). I never understood why they laughed so hard every time I would cheer a touch down by yelling, "Touchdown! Calvin "over the" Hill."

Of course, these were the same cousins who convinced me to eat all of the black jelly beans at Easter time by saying that they were "Bruno Samartino" beans and would make me stronger when we wrestled. I still hate the taste of black jelly beans.

And yes ... before anyone else chimes in ... I was a little slower than the other kids. ;)

5-10 yrs. old. Danny White and Tony Dorsett
10-15 yrs. old. Hershal and Michael Irvin

On my right arm.

That's too funny. I wouldn't have ever know about this.

DD Lewis and Jack Lambert...hated the Steelers and still do, but I was a LB in HS and no one played with his intensity.

Glad to assist. It's a pretty decent song.

That line hits home.

At first Roger "The dodger", then Tony D and my favorite player of all time is No. 22

go Cowboys
Mauricio

I had a bunch of favorite players that I enjoyed watching, but I never pretended to be any of them. I would imagine that I was playing in place of them. Most of the time I would be the guy that came in for an injured Tony Dorsett in my imagination. I ran with the style of both Dorsett and Earl Campbell. Pretty much unstoppable in my mind.
