When you were growing up...

Staubach, Danny White, Too Tall Jones, Charlie Waters.

I couldn't cover, but I specialized in big hits and batting down passes.

the original #88 Drew Pearson and when I was on defense I was Too Tall Jones

I had that one too. My brother gave away all my cards my first year of college. Swapped them for some dope. About a 100 bucks worth.

:bang2:
Now that's sad.

I have no idea what happened to mine. Went down the same black hole my Cowboys Weekly's fell into, I suppose.

Drew Pearson was my guy. That's why I wore 88 through-out my playing days.

Always was into being a RB.. so Calvin Hill early on then Dorsett when he came on board when I was 16.

When I was like 9 I went to the local public library in the town I grew up in, in WI and they had phone books from big cities. I found a Calvin Hill in the Dallas book and wrote him a fan letter.. Yeah, as if it was *the* Calvin Hill. Who knows though, maybe it was. ;)

Like the song says..."I was Roger Staubach in my back yard..."

I was Roger Staubach. hehehe

What song are you referring to?

aah LOL a number of people, it depends on who said who first. Most of the time I was Bob Hayes, Dorsett, Walter Payton, Drew Pearson, Tony Hill, Butch Johnson, Golden Richards, or Joe Washington

Mark Wills' "19 Something"

Nineteen Somethin'Saw Star Wars at least eight times
Had the Pac-Man pattern memorized
And I've seen the stuff they put inside...Stretch Armstrong (yeah)
I was Roger Staubach in my backyard
Had a shoebox full of baseball cards
And a couple of Evil Knievel scars
On my right arm.

I was a kid when Elvis died
And my momma cried...
It was nineteen seventy somethin'
And the world that I grew up in
Farrah Fawcett hairdo days
Bell bottoms and eight track tapes
Lookin' back now I can see me
Oh man, did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
Oh it was nineteen seventy-somethin'.

It was the dawning of a new decade
We got our first microwave
Dad broke down and
Finally shaved them old sideburns off
I took the stickers off of my Rubik's Cube
Watched M-TV all afternoon
My first love was Daisy Duke
And them cut-off jeans.
Space Shuttle fell out of the sky
And the whole world cried...

It was nineteen eighty-somethin'
And the world that I grew up in
Skatin' rinks and black Trans-Ams
Big hair and parachute pants
And lookin' back now I can see me
Oh man, did I look cheesy
I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
Oh it was nineteen eighty-somethin'.

Now I've got a mortgage and an SUV
But all this responsibility...
Makes me wish...Sometimes...
That it was nineteen eighty-something
And the world that I grew up in
Skatin' rinks and black Trans-Ams
Big hair and parachute pants
And lookin' back now I can see me
Oh man, did I look cheesy
I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
Oh it was nineteen eighty-something...
Nineteen seventy-something...
Oh, it was nineteen...somethin'.

No doubt, it was Bob Hayes first and Mel Renfro second. I got his autograph when I was twelve.

Tony Hill and Mike Renfro on O and Everson Walls and Michael Downs on D, yep Mike Renfro.

Danny White and the original playmaker Drew Pearson...

and once in a while Scott Laidlaw

It was always touchdown Tony Dorsett.... whenever jumping over a pile it was Herschel

Funny you should ask this, because this is how I became a cowboys fan. My friends in school were always Bradshaw and Swann, so naturally my teammate and I became Staubach and Dorsett. Haven't looked back since those elementary days in the 70's...lol

Jon

Naturally it was Issaic Holt. A distant second was Michael Irvin.
