In a way, Scandrick was benched for this game. Jenkins beat him out and got the job.

That's emotion talking. Justifiably so.

But would you would bench Bradie for Carpenter? Spencer for Octavien? Newman, Scandrick, or Jenkins for Alan Ball?

Bench Hamlin for who? They're down to two safeties as it is with Sensabaugh out.

I can't see this team benching anyone at the moment.

No, you're totally right. I think it's just odd that we continually have a list of untouchable starters throughout the season who don't really have to worry about their jobs. Part of that is because the backups aren't that good -- even though some of those backups (Spencer) are eventually hand-gifted starting roles.

Yeah, but if you listen to jerry in the pregame today, during his drunken good time diatribe on the arkansas win and the party plaza's he said this is what they want and that he doesnt consider jenkins or scandrick a starter because they both play a ton anyway.

But the thing is, if the starters have a reason to be benched to begin with, they're obviously not playing well. You need to plant the damn seed at some point. Stop allowing these players to feel like they're mini-GODs on the field. Make them actually CARE. I don't think some of them CARE. Well, you bench a player and scare him into thinking he'll eventually lose his job and no other team will want him, that says a lot.

The seed has to be planted in some shape or form. Sitting back and looking like dumb ol Wade doesn't do it.

You're right and what's interesting about that is that this past draft was all about depth. The problem: Half the draft class got injured.
