Fabini probably wants top money and Dallas isn't going to pay him that right now.
So I expect they let him get other offers and see if they want to match it.
That's probably not dead.
Also, you never know what they are thinking about with OL and the draft.
Maybe with the Kosier signing, a signal is being sent that OT and G is moving up the priority list and there is good value in the draft to get a player or 2 that can start or split time on the OL with our present vets.
Fabini is another over-30 guy that I'd really rather not see us commit to initially.
Other than a game-changer like TO who is over 30, I'm hoping we stay with younger, proven players like a Henry and not keep making this team older by the day.
Especially on offense.
We need youth, desire and talent on the offensive side of the ball. If we can't have all 3, then I'll take desire and talent.
But I think, and also hope, that Dallas is trying to keep all three factors in play before they hand out all the big money.
And most of the big names in FA are over 30 and lack one of those important ingredients.
In the second tier of FA's, there is still alot of players with all three qualities and won't cost as much.
We'll see.

I agree 100% and I think that is the gameplan for Parcells and Jones. The only areas that I deemed as a must in FA was Owens at WR and a top kicker. Owens is seeming more possible by the day, and though the cheaper kicking targets are gone, there are still the two V's. I really feel that Dallas wanted one of the other kickers, but you can't always get everyone you want. Our top offer probably just got topped and we lost out...you win some, you lose some.
Every other position can still be handled through the draft. I think Parcells and Jones are tired of overpaying for old players just looking to cash in, and want to bring in good youth for the long run. Guys like Arrington, Law, Woodson, Milloy, etc, have all seen there better days and will only be in the league for about 3-4 more years any way...no need to stock up on them.
That's why we will be signing 2nd tier FA as solid depth, and then get the better values from the draft. The 2nd Tier guys will serve as cheap solutions in the event that the younger draftees are not panning out immediately.
So I predict that Owens will be our big signing in FA, followed by more second tier FA fillers like Akin Ayodele, and then some top position prospects during the draft.
