I had a site I once went to, but it seems it's no longer available for downloads.

So now I'm searching for alternatives..

I'm aware of iTunes, but I don't have any apple products, so what other music store downloads can you go to to download music?

Amazon might work since I do have an acct there. I wonder if I can get reward points for using them, too. Traveling has gotten more expensive lately, so I'm trying to bump my reward points to reduce my costs.

Don't know about that.

Also you can still use Itunes if you wanted to do so.

You can install the itunes software. Download to that and export it to other things or import from other things.

I transferred all of my itune music to my samsung.

Actually think it is a tad easier getting things from itune as with google play you buy it and instead of initially downloading to your computer it stores it in an online account and from there you can download it (up to three times IIRC). So you might be better off with amazon although you might want to read how they go about it.

I may do both itunes and amazon. iTunes is probably more useful and I did read that it's just a matter of synching it to to my Windows media to get it to upload to my phone. Not sure how amazon does things, but I've used amazon for years for various purchases. Going to have to read up on it to see what I can get out of it.

We have used Napster, since taken over by Rhapsody. Songs are between .99 and 1.29.

Were you meaning songs for free?

Nothing in life is ever free.. lol

I just was wondering what legal sites folks were downloading their music. I'm partially a relic and was buying CDs up until a few years ago..until I found a questionably legal site that's no longer in existence.

Just looking for ideas.

Well, I don't have an MP3 player or anything, .. but my wife does.

Between the two of us, I am the computer guy, so I get her songs for her on Rhapsody.

Probably not the best or most cost affective, but it is working for us.

I pay $5 a month for unlimited listening to Rhapsody. Any song. If you want a legal copy, the actual MP3 or whatever format, to download and do with as you wish, you have to pay the .99 or 1.99.

But I can live stream or download to my playlist any song and it is covered by the 5 dollars a month.

Hmm.. that actually doesn't sound too bad. I have Pandora, but of course you can't download off Pandora...unless you can and I never knew it.

I use Metro PCS and they offer it for the $5. I don't know how much it is otherwise.

I use iTunes and Amazon for mp3's if the CD is overpriced.

Spotify is also a good option. $10 a month and you can stream unlimited music on your phone online and off.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm a big fan of Grooveshark. It doesn't let you download, but you can save playlists - unlike pandora - and you can use it right on your phone...so it basically just functions like an mp3 player.

Spotify lets you download for usage when you're offline. I subscribe, $9.95 per month gets you unlimited everything on mobile and computer. Great for flights.

Does it have a pretty good selection of music? Does it have commercials? If not, that's incredible.

No commercials...selection is limited compared to like Spotify, and new stuff doesn't come out right away. I still dig it though.

The one thing Grooveshark has that Spotify doesn't though, at least at times, is mixtapes and things like that. I think everything on Spotify is just major releases.
