Where do you guys think Leary ranks in terms of guards in the NFL? I am curious about your thoughts in terms of guards overall and the specific guard position he plays.

He's not "all pro" or "pro bowl" but, I would rank him just below elite. He will certainly get an offer
north of 6mil per year from some team. Shame we can't keep him but, you can save them all from FA.
He's no liability on our OL like Free is.

Above average starter, with a bonus for his mean streak. You do worry a bit about his back and knees though.

Top quarter? Top half? I think it is pretty well settled that he is in the top half at his position. Some teams have a black hole at guard. I really think he is top quarter or better. Top quarter obviously means he is in the top 8 out of 32 at his position.

I don't think I'll like seeing him wear burgundy and gold (or blue and white) next year. If Dallas doesn't go nuts in free agency, he should at least bring in a compensatory pick in 2018.

I think he is top quarter and we are letting him walk mainly due to cap reasons. Collins is cheaper, undoubtably, but I'm not sure he is better. If money was no object he would remain a Cowboy, but the cap indicates he will probably go. But, according to some here, the cap is irrelevant.

I'd put him as a top-8 LG and a top-20 guard overall. Stout in pass protection and at times excellent in run blocking, but can be inconsistent. Not a lot of great guards out there these days.

It is and your posts are starting to be

Collins is younger, better and healthier........he already beat Leary out twice........and we will get a 4th round comp for Leary if we don't sign a DE

Top 10. It'll be a big mistake letting him go. Shift Collins to RT, keep Leary and dominate for years to come. I would never peck away at the team's strength to try to improve the defense.

According to the play on the feild says no.

Be specific if you are going to make such a claim. Collins was less consistent with his technique as a rookie which robbed him of his power at times but he did not suffer as much as when LEary lunges because he has much better length. The actual power was close this past year.

Lateral agility is not even close. Leary gets turned by/misses quicker guys and trying to hold on when he was not square is how he got all those groin injuries. He also struggles to adjust to LB who juke him on the second level.

Collins issues are what you see in young players. Inconsistent technique as mentioned and awareness. He would be slow to react to blitzes, stunts, and especially twists his rookie campaign. Thing is those are what experience, practice, and film study remedies. You cannot fix slow feet.
