Because Leary is a better player?
That doesn't make sense.

What does make sense is the business side of this decision in that his replacement is not Doug free and that he is still very young who has proved that he can step in and contribute and probably get even better with more time

Yes in a time long ago we would have kept everyone but alas we have a salary cap and only so much can go around

What's it going to be then, eh?

Top 10. It'll be a big mistake letting him go. Shift Collins to RT, keep Leary and dominate for years to come. I would never peck away at the team's strength to try to improve the defense.
I would like to do that also but they are stubborn about even trying Collins at RT. Plus Leary will ask for more than Jones will ever commit to.

It is no coincidence that Leary taking over LG was when Elliott started killing it.

I'll have a sig bet with you.

By the end of this season, Collins will be pretty universally regarded as the better player. He might even make the Pro Bowl.

Something either of us has to have just for a month or so.
I'm saying right now Leary is by far the better player. And he most definitely is. By taking your bet would make me look like I am rooting agaist Collins. Of course I hope Collins becomes all pro.

that is exactly what it was

NYG had a great DL
EE had very little pre-season work
Once EE got some timing down he exploded

Very little to do with Leary

I don't understand how we can let Leary walk when we could cut Crawford and it would just about be a wash salary wise. Crawford is a far lesser player than Leary.

That is just your opinion... TCrawford is still our best DL....Leary is our 5th best OL(yes Collins is 4)

You don't pay OG20 like he's OG8 in the league, especially when you have to pay OG1.5 inside the next year. Leary is a good player, who's helped out a lot by playing between the best LT and the best C in the game, or at least close to it. If Collins and Leary are close you flat out don't consider overpaying Leary to "keep the line intact". My guess is that the team probably views them as closer then most of the fans on here do, and I'd lean toward saying the team understands OLine play right now better then just about any facet of the game.

Do you really want to make Leary a 5/41 with 20 SB offer? Considering we're going to have to best that to keep Martin here soon. The cap can be played with but do you want to use the room that you make playing with the cap to keep Leary? I think there are better uses based on what our current roster looks like.

it depends on the cost to resign Leary. we have a lot of players that play DT, we have a couple that play guard. Leary plays every down. but i think Collins will be fine. starting to worry crawford isnt worth the money.
but with Leary's knees i dont want a long term deal.
