at this point in ware's career and haley at his pinnacle...haley was far better. that's not an exaggeration. now, that's not to say ware won't improve and i highly doubt we've seen the best of ware, but i think carp's original statement is correct.
and cc's was just asinine. to declare ware our best pass rusher of all time, based off of 2 seasons of play? come on.
That's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. However, at some point stats have to become a basis for an argument one way or the other. The fact is, at this point in their careers (two years) Ware has 19.5 sacks to Haley's 18.5. You can claim Haley is a more disruptive force, and he may very well have been so, but Ware (as has been discussed ad nauseam) has been forced to play a role Haley never experienced...but that's another topic. If you think that Ware couldn't have been as disruptive as Haley given the same number of opportunities, then we'll have to disagree. Ware is on pace to becoming a better and more productive player than Haley. Too say he was "far" better IS an exaggeration.
That being said, I agree, to declare Ware the best pass rusher in Cowboys history is extremely premature. I never supported that argument, however, but thanks for including me in it.
At some point, all of these older ex-players have become cannonized into something that they really weren't at the time. If you think Haley wasn't criticized for his underwhelming 4 and 6 sack seasons with the Cowboys, then you need to refresh your memory. Again, I personally think Haley is an all-time great, he's just not infallible.
