People forget that with the lockout the cap remained flat from 2009 to 2013 at 122m. That was 4 years with 0 growth because the owners wanted to teach the NFLPA a lesson.

Well if they taught the NFLPA a lesson did the owners not also limit their income?

No. The owners cried poor and got a bigger percentage of the revenues and held wages down artificially for 2 years.

That is planning, not just luck as you called it.

I never once said it was luck. In fact I said it was bad luck that most of those vets didn't live up to their contracts.

I've said the Cowboys have been fine with their cap management for years and any problems have been exaggerated.

Just like any supposed corrections or changes have been exaggerated.

That's a decent amount of money to add some more players after cuts.

10m is a nice cushion to do about anything needed. Maybe a sign RB, 1T or KR or even a trade.

I'm not surrounded by an army of believers, but I fully expect Joseph Randle to explode this season.

I've given up hope about addressing 1T externally, so hopefully Terrell McClain stays healthy and Ken Bishop makes a big jump in year two. I'd like to see Nick Hayden released in final cuts if the above takes place, I doubt he'd get picked up by anyone and be sitting on the couch during the season, if needed.

But if Hayden sticks again, the new DL rotation will hopefully greatly reduce his snaps this snaps and limit him to an early down role.

The extra cap space will be handy as the team likely looks to get an extension done with Tyrone Crawford.

Lance Dunbar and Darrion Weems might also warrant attention if both have strong camps and pre-seasons.
