The last 27 years speaks for itself. I don’t need to remind Cowboys fans of what that means. But I have a couple of serious questions for the entire Cowboys organization:
  • Where is the chip on the shoulder? The last two seasons have ended in losses to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round. Both losses where the team clearly underperformed and did not bring their best to the most important game in their entire season.
  • Does anyone sense from the players, coaches and FO a sense of urgency or a chip on the shoulder about their lack of quality playoff performance?
Here’s my question to us as fans: Maybe I’m wrong, but for a team and organization that has clearly underperformed for decades, do these guys seem to have more determination, focus and clarity than in the past? Or do they seem a bit too self satisfied with reading their own news clippings? Does anyone sense a drive and urgency to get right what they haven’t for so long?

Jimmy Johnson has said for years that this organization is like a country club rather than a football team. He has said on numerous occasions that the players “look too comfortable” with losing.

Where is the chip?

It‘s way too early to give up on this team and I still have some optimism
. They have talent and they can compete with any team when properly prepared and focused. But every time I watch this team underperform as we witnessed last Sunday, I wonder again, Where is the chip?
The cardinal game showed exactly where their chip is,in the bottom of the bag in broken pieces..team has not had any heart since Irvin played.

You know, Amigo, in years past, I'd probably have argued with you. But I've reached a point to realize there is something wrong here. And I have nothing to offer for a fix. I now firmly believe the problem is at the top, the FO. I realize this was only one darn game, but the telltale signs are all there.

We come out and play with force and a chip. Then we come out and play with force and more confident and with swag. And then this team seems to get full of itself and over confident, from the owner to players. We get our face pushed in and come out swinging and usually go on a streak. Let’s hope it’s streak time.

And the fact he'll substitute success for vanity speaks volumes. This man could have done things so differently and had far more football success. It's pitiful really, no matter how rich he is.

Sure, even SB teams in the past have had bad games. But the 27 year drought in playoff success should tell him something, but it doesn't.
He knows but doesn’t care enough to get out the way. If he can’t play ball his way he’s not interested. He made that clear with Jimmy.

I want to be wrong more than anything, and you're right,it's only one game but seeing how they lost and their reactions afterwards and Steven saying it's a wakeup call..who the hell needs a wakeup call after only 2 games,I thought they got the wakeup call after we lost to the damn 9ers,imo team is soft in the worst place..the heart and it's been this way for 28yrs..I'm getting ready to turn 60 and I love the cowboys but I have my doubts I'll ever see another SB..I'm tired of this ****

This is probably the Cowboys mindset unfortunately.

That’s why they’re losers.
I can see why though.

That was a bad loss.

The offense has taken a step back with McCarthy.

Diggs is out and you don’t replace him.

The culture hasn’t changed. Players pout when they don’t get their “stats”. Case in point were Lamb and Parsons.

This team just can’t handle the limelight. Prescott spouting off at his presser saying the media got what they wanted. What the hell is that? Such a bizarre thing to say.

This team is good but they still lack killer instinct and the will to handle adversity.

It starts at the top. Our ownership and GM are not "all in" on winning. Its 3 or 4 rungs down the ladder of importance. Our GM takes a two week vacation in a yacht days before the draft.
This.

Country Club mentality of the Arlington Jonesboys has no chip on the shoulder. They are privileged on what Tex, Tom, and Gil built, and what Jimmy, Bob, and John revived. The owner is a multi billionaire, the GM is a multi billionaire, the defacto Head Coach is a multi billionaire, and the players/coaches get to go to the Country Club owned by the multi billionaire and say they are Arlington Jonesboys not earning a thing to be Dallas Cowboys.
Well said sir.

Jerry’s role in the building of the team that won 3 super bowls is well documented. He was GM in name only and Jimmy had full roster control. After 93’ when the core of the team and roster depth was already constructed , Jimmy left and Erik Williams had that horrible car wreck and was never the same player. That derailed the 94’ season which was still a huge success losing in the NFC title game. The NFC title game is probably the organizations goal these days. Jerry to his credit added Dieon Sanders which was the move that put them back on top……. But with the core of jimmy’s team still intact.
Truth

All the Cards really had to do was run the clock out by running the ball. The Dallas defense had no real answer for them all day. Heck McCarthy was helping them run the clock out.
They made then punt twice in the 2nd half.

Then why didn't they? They could not even do it the whole game. Man, your rah rah rah is really old, get real for once. lol
Go back and watch the 2nd half. How did they make them punt twice in the 2nd half?

Bullet,
DAL has a culture problem. They have been sick, lame, and lazy since Wade Philips. I was hoping MM could turn that around but he can't.

There's zero chip or anger. It's just, 'aw shucks we just need to do better next time' and players are leisurely continuing to pick up more paychecks. The fact that guys got a 'vet rest day' after getting spanked by the Cardinals tells you all you need to know.
