They wouldn't onside kick with over 5 minutes to go and with timeouts.
I'm looking at the stats and it looks like there was 3:05 left in the game when Dak threw the interception. Don't remember exactly how much time was left when the non penalty wasn't called.

Really? Then how did the punts happen?
All the Cards really had to do was run the clock out by running the ball. The Dallas defense had no real answer for them all day. Heck McCarthy was helping them run the clock out.

The penalty was with over 5 minutes to go like I told you.

The last 27 years speaks for itself. I don’t need to remind Cowboys fans of what that means. But I have a couple of serious questions for the entire Cowboys organization:
  • Where is the chip on the shoulder? The last two seasons have ended in losses to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round. Both losses where the team clearly underperformed and did not bring their best to the most important game in their entire season.
  • Does anyone sense from the players, coaches and FO a sense of urgency or a chip on the shoulder about their lack of quality playoff performance?
Here’s my question to us as fans: Maybe I’m wrong, but for a team and organization that has clearly underperformed for decades, do these guys seem to have more determination, focus and clarity than in the past? Or do they seem a bit too self satisfied with reading their own news clippings? Does anyone sense a drive and urgency to get right what they haven’t for so long?

Jimmy Johnson has said for years that this organization is like a country club rather than a football team. He has said on numerous occasions that the players “look too comfortable” with losing.

Where is the chip?

It‘s way too early to give up on this team and I still have some optimism
. They have talent and they can compete with any team when properly prepared and focused. But every time I watch this team underperform as we witnessed last Sunday, I wonder again, Where is the chip?

Silly question because you and everyone else knows where the chip is. It is in JJ's pocket.

Great and valid points ....the "chip on the shoulder" lays on Jerry and son because they've been the ones around all those years and led this disaster of teams every year the last three decades. No post season success. Players come and go, coaches come and go....but the constant is Sheriff Andy and Deputy Barney. But to them, the chip may as well be a gold bullion because that is what they feel they have, so certainly don't feel like losers. Players still get paid. ....The only losers are the fans.

The sense of urgency only comes from us. Sad state of affairs.

The Cowboy defense is certainly capable of stopping any team with over 5 minutes and timeouts. The point is you said that it wasn't even close.

Then why didn't they? They could not even do it the whole game. Man, your rah rah rah is really old, get real for once. lol

It's tough to get a chip going if it doesn't come from the top.

You can try, but it only lasts as long as the personality can sustain it. That's why you want fixtures in your organization where this is part of their defining character.

They're capable and if they had been doing it all day we probably would have won. They need to show up against the Patriots for us to have a chance. The offense is struggling. Through 3 games a WR still hasn't scored a TD despite 2 blowouts.

I don’t believe in a whole team having a chip. They don’t see past the next game really and they’ve done fine 2 of the 3 weeks being focused. They can’t do squat about SF and those losses. Maybe it’s a question to be asked when they play SF but only for a few I’d imagine. Maybe Dak., Micah, and a few others feel more weight from that loss but I’d bet most on the team thinks it’s just another tough week coming up.

Would it make you happy if Dak threw the td to Lamb instead of Rico. How about if the defender let Gallup make the catch instead of the interference.

Jimmy is probably right. And our organization is comfortable . And it begins at the top in the sky box .This franchise doesn’t need to win Super Bowls.

You can add the owners to that list. :)
Most if not all of the owners have already achieved success in their previous occupations which led to them having the means to buy a team.

way different from some players that have underachieved and not earned their money and not truly succeeded in their craft.

This is more of a hobby that makes money for the owners rather than a measure of their success.

I don't understand why one game matters more than the other 2.

There was no problem with a chip on the shoulder when they were 2-0 and outscoring opponents 70-10.

Good teams have stinkers all the time, it doesn't mean anything about the culture or motivation.
This team has games like this every year-thus a pattern. We should of destroyed the Cardinals if we are who we claim ourselves to be. That's a game that's probably gonna cost us later in the season. Maybe from staying at Dallas to going to Philly. Lose to the Niners or other teams like that you could stomach it. Arizona???? Come on, man!

That’s a long conversation. In a nutshell Jerry has all the money he could ever have dreamed. Net worth around 10B. What he doesn’t have is respect around the league as a GM. He wants to be known for his football acumen and that’s something you can’t buy. Jerry wants a Super Bowl BUT on the condition that he gets credit for building the team. That’s why even after all these years, he refuses to let go and let competent people build the team. He doesn’t want another JJ situation where another man gets all the accolades and credit for winning.
And the fact he'll substitute success for vanity speaks volumes. This man could have done things so differently and had far more football success. It's pitiful really, no matter how rich he is.

Sure, even SB teams in the past have had bad games. But the 27 year drought in playoff success should tell him something, but it doesn't.

Hard to have a chip when half the media crowns them early each year. They go in believing it’s already theirs. Their owner doesn’t help get them get that chip on their shoulder either…he’s too much of a cool-aid seller and player coddler.
