Where is the defensive value in this draft? Which rounds?

We have 10 draft picks. I'd rather see us trade away several of those later picks and climb up in the 2nd or 3rd round. Quality over quantity if you will.

But, I don't follow college ball at all. Which rounds offer the potential of picking up solid players? Is the draft deep in defensive talent?

I appreciate the input!

Both 3rds could get us into the late 2nd

3rd comp and both 4th’s could move us up to the teens in the 3rd round

Both 4ths and the 5th comp could get us another late 3rd

I think the 2nd and 3rd rounds are always going to be the value rounds of most drafts if you’re looking for players that could potentially play early. That’s where you can target DT, CB, LB or S...S isn’t particularly deep this year, but the other 3 positions look good for 2nd/3rd round

Corners - 2nd round
DTs - 3rd
LBs - 3/4

I think at these three spots, there's little to separate the top guys from the middle of the pack, but I don't think this is a draft where you're going to get starting-caliber players on day 3.

There are no absolutes, even teams who spend lots of money on it don't agree with each other. But just for fun, round 1 pick 15-16 to Round 3 pick 20-25 seems like the sweet spot. There are 23 defensive players within the top 50 that should become starters within two years or right away. That last one is ranked 46. There are over 40 more defensive players in the top 160 that should make a team, be quality backups, and have a chance to become starters.
