The guy on The Ticket just asked the question that I've been curious about for so long. I don't believe that TO is leading the league in dropped passes like "the Powers That Be" are telling us. Who is keeping this stat? How are they keeping this stat? Where is this stat? Why don't I have access to it?

If a ball is down by your knees, and you attempt to catch it, and you get both hands on it and drop it. Dropped Ball!!

If you have to jump 12 inches off the ground and get both hands on it but still don't make the catch. Dropped Ball!!!

If you have to slow down to catch the ball, disrupt your rhythm and mishandle the ball. Dropped Ball!!!

It goes on and on. This is the first year I've heard they've started keeping track of dropping passes. It's become another TO obsession. Just like the Roy Williams and Emmit Rules .... The TO stats.

Interesting.

They have him listed at 10 drops on his profile page.

(see the very bottom of page)

You know what else is VERY interesting.
2 of the guys leading all recievers in TD catches... are also 2 of the guys leading in drops. HMM

They don't listen to Joe Buck when he says TO drops the ball. If the ball is within 10 feet of Owens and he doesn't catch he'll yell out "TO with another drop". Its rather annoying.

Joe Buck and FOX love to say anything within 10 yards of TO is a drop.

Against TB he had the short ball by his feet, drop.
Had to jump two feet in the air to get a finger on a ball, drop.
The next down TG goes vertical and is being pulled down and can't grab it, drop.

Really? Just touching a ball doesn't mean it's a drop.

This is like determining what is a hit -vs- what is an error.

It is someone's judgement.

I don't consider some of the passes drops that TV announcers do.

I think that is what SportsBabe was referring to.

So I don't really depend on their opinion to tell me what is a drop and what is not. I know that for myself.

I also wonder how many drops were recorded for Owens when he had a broken hand for the whole game, and also how many did they record as drops the game he played right after his surgery.

They can make stats look any way they want sometimes, ... don't be fooled.

But it fits someones agenda to bring up the drops. Whatever.

This is one of those stats that's dependent on the viewer's interpretation.

Its kind of like TD's allowed for a defender. People blame Roy Williams for the Santana Moss TD's but Bill Parcells says it was not Roy's responsibility... so, its all a judgement call.

The only stats that are OFFICIAL are the ones on NFL.com

Regardless of where TO ranks in drop ball the bottom line is he has room to improve in his game and hopefully the drops will be fewer as we get to crunch time. Thus far the drops have not cost in the majority of game but in a couple of other games it did.

There is no way in the world that Atlanta's receivers are not in the top 5.

Everybody's comments were on point.

Hey dont forget tha Michael Irvin rule, Eric Williams rule, the T.O. celebration rule .......

I think it has something to do with a Commander fan running the league for years and years ......

wow, you see the category for % receptions/thrown to?
Crayton leads all NFL receivers and by like 3% too!!!!
A few rb's are ahead, but they get the dinkies

damn, lu me some Crayton

I would say that Crayton has the best hands on the team and has really done a good job for the Cowboys this season.

Atlanta's receivers are fine and don't have that many "drops". It's the person that's throwing them the ball that's the problem.

This has to be one of the biggest non-truths I have seen on this board.

Did you see the NO Saints/Falcons game. That was pretty much how their receivers have been playing all year.

Ron M. has not played well but his receivers have not helped him out.

Yes, they collectively had a rough game but do you really base your opinions on any one random game?
