Atlanta's receivers are fine and don't have that many "drops". It's the person that's throwing them the ball that's the problem.

Have you not been watching much football lately?

That has been the talk of the Atlanta highlights recently.

Granted, Vick can throw some bad passes.

Wow, what a dilema for their OC !

TO stats through 12 games

Catches/Yards/TD's

6/80/1 - Game 1
3/19/0 - Game 2
5/88/0 - Game 3
3/45/0 - Game 4
5/45/3 - Game 5
6/98/1 - Game 6
9/107/0 - Game 7
7/76/1 - Game 8
5/96/1 - Game 9
4/70/0 - Game 10
8/107/1 - Game 11
8/84/0 - Game 12

Total of 69 catches. 12 drops.
  • Leads the NFC in 1st Downs with 51
  • Of those 51 first downs 20 were on 3rd down (tied for 1st in NFC)
There is a "passes not caught" category where TO has not caught 52... he is 5th

Do you add the 69 catches with the "passes not caught" to get to how many times targeted? Total= 121? Then you need to determine how many drops were catchable right?

I too think it has a lot to do with judgement.

On one hand you can argue that receivers get paid to catch the ball so if they get 2 hands on it and dont catch it, it's a "drop".

But what else is factored in. To even get both hands on it did they have to leap, stop, reach, bend etc. I know it's not a thing where everyone and their brother would otherwise agree that it was a perfect pass to have to be considered a drop.

Thats the thing that gets me about Vick and guys like QC to name a couple. Very rarely do/did they put balls right between the numbers. And of course that can affect the result of the play even why the guy is able to adjust and at least make the catch.

Yes, they collectively had a rough game but do you really base your opinions on any one random game?

No, one of my friends lives in Atlanta and we discuss Cowboys/Falcons daily.

A couple of games have come on down here in Dallas, so I have watched those too.

That is the hot button topic in Atlanta. 1st round picks dropping balls left and right and the need for a true #1 receiver.

Many fans were a little disappointed that T.O. didnt come to ATL.

Rom M. has played crappy too, but the receivers have been dropping a ton of ball.

There are some other issues about the team that we discuss that doesn't have anything to do with Vick, but that is a different story.

Funny, people said the same thing about Peerlis Price. People said Vick killed his career when he came there from Buffalo. Then he came to Dallas and we saw his bag.

I can honestly say that I don't watch a single highlight show so I have no idea whether that's the talk or not, but I will say that I've seen six or so Falcons games this year and other than the NO game, drops haven't been the reason they're struggling throwing the football.

They'll always blame the receivers in Atlanta though then throw the OC under the bus. They have way too much invested in Vick and he puts way too many fannies in the seats for them to ever admit that he's part of the problem.

You probably know more about it than I do then, since you have watched their games.

I haven't, just highlight shows, and we all know they only show us what they want us to see.

Trust me, I wasn't defending Vick.

Well as they say "there are lies. damn lies and then there are statistics"
or as an old college statistics professor once told me, "if you can find the statistics to prove your argument then you need to change your statistician”.

This is completely biased and subjective!

Plaxico Burress has had 11 drops in the last 4 games and he is not even listed... I guarantee you these lists are made by Giants fans.
