Where's my crow? Garrett was not the factor I was so concerned he would be

He coaches our defense, not the offense that handled their defense. You realize that right?
I realize it now that I got my head out of an awkward place where it's not supposed to be.:laugh:
Don't know what threw me off, but glad to get it straight again, one's head does not belong where mine apparently was. Sorry for the screw up.

Garrett was handled well for the most part. Early on he got through on occasion, once causing Dak to throw it backwards, or fumble, I don't know what it was scored as. But the further Cleveland got behind, the less impact Garrett was going to have due to safer play calling. Had the game been much closer, or we were playing from behind, Garrett might have been more of a problem.

The Cowboys couldn't passblock enough to let anything develop downfield and the scheme overall was dictated by that. I don't know how much more a game can be influenced by a single defensive player.

Dak made a couple of big throws early to get the lead and was judicious with the football overall. Everything else was just very low risk, especially once they had a lead - specifically because of 95.

Absolutely.

This is true for every dynamic passrusher.

It wasn't a totally clean day, but none of us expected it would be. Dak took a straight-on booming hit from one of their DTs, and I couldn't be certain but I thought it resulted from a mix-up b/t Martin and Beebe (?).

I'll be highly interested to know how our O-line scored in run blocking.

I'm pretty glad I'm rarely in a position to serve myself crow.

In fact I'm working on a giant pot of crow stew to serve others....as zeke does a nice job helping us win.

That's critical. Some say negative to mention...but if we wanna dominate through the season that must improve.

As I suspected Zeke would need to chip and he was superb in doing so

I don't think it was a mixup-Martin just got whooped

This also should have been a penalty. Ironically, the same thing happened to Romo last time Dallas played in Cleveland in September. That was the bloody chin game.

They schemed away from him which is what you should do to help your rookie LT

Guyton did have some help at times but he did a hell of a job today.

He’s so big and his wingspan is so massive… add very nimble feet to that and he is going to be tough to beat.
this team has had more than it's share of snakebitten misfortune, but the rate we hit on OL is extraordinary. this kid looks like the real deal

I think you're right, and I think I owe an apology to Beebe.

Meanwhile, dang, Garrett would've gotten there first if not for Zeke trying to help out Guyton... and still, Garrett was almost there anyway.

I think the first drive was a real "Welcome to the NFL" for Guyton - there just is no preparing for that.

But he recovered pretty well the rest of the way, I think.

Unpopular opinion here, but as I rewatch the game Guyton wasn't very good. I only count about 10 or so snaps where he went against Garrett, I'm seeing #99 and some #74 on Guyton a lot more often. Garrett on his 1V1 just blew by him pretty consistently, which isnt uncommon for a lot of LTs in the game. He does a really nice job typically of keeping his shoulders square and when he gets hands on a defender its game over. It shows you the ceiling the guy has. I'm seeing some weaknesses on film that were covered up with excellent play calls and a game getting out of hand that didnt require a lot of longer developing plays. He got driven back into Dak pretty often with a straight bull rush, and seems beatable with speed to the outside. He also has a tendency to bend at his waste on occasion instead of dropping his hips.

He has every physical trait to be an all pro LT eventually, but I see some mistakes that need fixed and will likely turn into growing pains all season long.

I’m interested in seeing what he looks like against other pass rushers. He won’t see another Myles Garrett thankfully with that combination of strength and speed.
